I have levator-ani syndrome which is exactly the same symptoms.

My treatments are daily trans-anal irrigation with manual extraction as my ability to push is severely restricted due to spasms, tightness in pubirectalis muscles, tightness in rectum and Bowel, bladder, Abdominal and pelvic adhesions.

Unfortunately with my condition laxatives have no effect as I also have colitis.

I attend a specialist bladder/Bowel physio who supports me with irrigation and performs internall/external trigger point manipulation which helps with tightening spasms. In conjunction I get botox injections into pubirectalis muscles so combined treatment helps me to manage symptoms. I also take antispasmodics and pain meds.

What meds/treatments are you getting and how do you manage Bowel motions?

The botox does help, might be good for you to talk things over with your doctor and share your worries and concerns. Hope you get the treatment that is good for you to manage your symptoms.

Botox injected into pubirectalis muscles near rectum in pelvic floor, didn't count at time but was a few injections, Lasts for about 3months. Botox helps to cope with painful spasms and lessens muscles from locking in painful spasms doesn't eradicate symptoms rather it helps to manage my condition. Combined with physio and meds and supported by a good medical team is a relief.

Hardest thing to cope with was getting a doctor to listen and understand my symptoms and getting a diagnosis, to put a care plan in place.

I still get days where I struggle to cope and get out of bed due to pain but I do get some relief allowing me to be "normal" for a short while.

Hello,

how did the Botox injection work for you? how many have you had ? do you remember your first one ? I just had my first Botox Injection and I have been in more pain then I can remember. the first week after I had a reaction of incontinence that was unstoppable. is that to be expected ? I don't know if others here have the same issue the suppository laxative cause's the muscle to cramp up for hours after the release and now I can't hold the enemas in the solution just leaks out I need to physically hold it in. this can't be what i should expect.
