Is surgery the best option if the fibroids don't bother you that much. They are very large though and growing at an exponential rate.

I have a large cluster of fibroid that don't cause me any pain and I still have normal periods. They pert rude a little but not that bad. However I want to now try for children and do not know whether it is best to just leave them and try for children or wave them removed which I hear could affect my fertility. My fibroids went from 11 cm to 20 cm in a year so I'm worried that if I do not do something now they may affect my pregnancy if I do actually manage to conceive. Any advice would be greatly welcome. Im 38 in April.

Hi Allymilly,

Was it a gynaecologist who diagnosed them for you? I would definitely suggest a referral for advise as they may suggest medication to help shrink them. Esyma used to be used although it was stopped as there were concerns over affects on the liver. I heard it was being used again in women who had no problems with Esyma effecting their liver. I’m not too sure if it is being used again in new patients but it’s something you can discuss, but it’s possible that surgery is your best option. I hope this helps.

I would think at that size you would need surgery depending where they are you may have issues with fertility I’m only saying this as my mum had fibroids and she waited for treatment so long on nhs she ended up having hysterectomy and sadly couldn’t have more children you should at least have a referral for surgery in place as it could be a long wait and get bigger do speak to a specialist for more information x
