so I had my coil removed on 27th September and went straight on the evra patch after removal. I had a period for about 2 weeks after it was removed and then I've had old brown bleeding ever since. However 2 days ago I have started bleeding more and its now bright red blood (basically a period) with clots. This can't be other period as I am using the patch back to back for 3 months :( does anyone know is this normal?

Hi Tinkerbell971,

It’s likely it will take a while for the patch to settle. Like most hormone based treatments they rarely start working instantly. It’s perfectly normal especially when changing between two different methods of hormone treatments. If it was a switch in pills you might not have gotten a period but you’ve changed from the coil to a patch. I hope this helps but if you are worried you can speak to your GP or attend a walk in session at your local sexual health clinic who have a lot of experience with this.

Thank you. How long does it usually last for?
