Finally had my operation to remove 1 fibroid from my ovaries- success and nothing I had to worry about. Even though I was terrified but no where I read that it is routine operation side affected are minimal - that’s to say the type of operation I had. Thanks

Hi Mimi250,
I’m really pleased that everything went well for you. I think generally there has been a reluctance to say operations are routine as there will always be those cases that unfortunately don’t go to plan or the original diagnosis changes. It also discourages patients from making fully informed decisions without realising that all surgeries will have an element of risk involved. But you are right that those surgeries that are frequently carried out by nearly all gynaecologists carry less risk than surgeries that aren’t routinely performed. Definitely a good question to ask all specialists ‘how often do you perform this type of surgery?’
I hope you continue to heal well and make a speedy recovery
