I am 3 weeks post op from bladder prolapse repair and rectocele repair basically went thru my vagina and fixed pelvic floor and lifted bladder into place without mesh. Wondering if anyone has gone through this And if it’s normal to have tailbone pain (hurts to sit too long) and occasional sharp pains when walking too long. How long until you feel more normal and what symptoms if it has failed? What do most people do beside lay around to rest and will I feel better by 6 weeks? Taking myralax daily to prevent constipatoon. Any suggestions for healing. Can Premarin be used at this point to aid healing as I have had hysterectomy. Thank you

Hello. I am 10 weeks post op. I had these same repairs (both anterior/posterior) with sutures. Recovery was very difficult. I had tailbone nerve pain with sitting & it was excruciating to have a bowel movement that was even a LITTLE formed. Yet then my overuse of Miralax caused colitis at 5 weeks post op. I found very little relief with pain meds. I used ice & warm baths (& antibiotics for the colitis).

The reason I bring up the colitis, is because I suffered in pain for 2 weeks, accepting it was apart of the healing process. I ended up in the ER & was diagnosed via CT scan. So if your pain severely worsens at any point, get it checked out just to be safe!

For the most part I feel back to normal. I still get tailbone pain when I have the urge to poop, but it’s tolerable & goes away after I go. & that’s a fair trade compared to the discomfort I felt pre op.

Also, I’ve had many time I felt the surgery failed. One time even seeing a posterior bulge at the vagina opening. But per my Dr 3 days ago, he says everything is looking good. I’ve just had to change my diet to prevent anymore bowel issues.

Good luck to you!!!! Rest rest rest!!! It does get better! Warm baths work great for pain! (& I’m sorry I’m unsure about the Premarin).
