Looking for support

Hi there, I am just looking for anyone who knows if there are any support groups in the Edinburgh area. I am trying to find something that I can be round people who have the same issues as me, as I am finding it very hard at the moment, and I need to get myself sorted out, as it is not helping my relationship with my husband and three teenagers.

Any information would be greatly received

Pain management and just seeing how other people managed this horrible thing. My family now think I should be left alone with my kids as some things may happen

Sorry Nikki, not thinking before I wrote that, now thinking Pelvic Pain is a condition in itself and my question therefore comes across as intrusive. I am Edinburgh based, have pelvic problems which cause me complications in everyday life but I do not suffer pain. I am sorry for your quality of life at present. Having teenage children is not physically and emotionally challenging at the best of times. I notice the University of Edinburgh ed.ac.uk/centre-reproductiv... have a number of 'Useful Links' of national associations, not local groups but they do have a contact number. Might be worth a try?

Hi,

You are right chronic pelvic pain is a diagnosis on its own even if no underlying medical condition is found such as endometriosis, etc. The Edinburgh university website is a good resource but remember it is aimed more at those with conditions such as endometriosis and other reproductive issues. They are currently running a trial to see if gabapentin works to help those with a diagnosis of chronic pelvic pain where no underlying pathology is found. They have unfortunately just finished recruiting for participants but if you haven’t tried this you can still go to your GP and ask to be put on the medication. This medication is used even if you have a condition such as endometriosis. I’m on pregabalin which is a similar medication for adenomyosis and endometriosis. I hope this helps
