Hi my GP thinks I could have a fibroid and has referred me for an ultrasound I am 48 with missed periods until July then very heavy bleeds in August and September along with low back pain which goes down top of leg,bad pelvic pain ,difficulty urinating and fully emptying the bladder.these symptoms occurred even when I have not got my period any advice would be helpful. .I had this problem over a year now and had previously had ultrasound done which was clear so if results are the same what can it be

Could be many things but prolapse is a good candidate with the pain you describe.

Prolapse surgery is best avoided for as long as possible so Drs are reluctant to refer. Have you been offered Vagifem ? It helps to tighten up the tissues and relieves prolapse symptoms or if the prolapse is bad then ask about a pessary.
