I have 3 fibroids last count my largest is about 2cm at last examination. I have been told that because of my age 53 that they will disappear when l go through the menopause, but l have been told by people that that is a load of rubbish. I am peri menopausal at the moment.
I had large fibroids in my womb and had a sub-total hysterectomy! The top of the cervical and womb is removed but you keep all your lady bits down below, you do go into a very slow menopause mine was awful but everyone's menopause is different. All in all it was the best thing to get done I was 48 at the time. Hope this helps
Hi, I have multiple fibroids but not been a problem as such until recently when I have suffered constant and heavy bleeding. Just had scan to show many are large and are rupturing- hence the constant bleeding. Now awaiting referral to gynaecologist for possible hysterectomy. I have constant pelvic pain and bowel ‘ache’ ( no idea how else to describe it!). Only just found out the two can be related, so in the dark myself - but you are not alone !
Hi So I had my hospital appointment yesterday and now been listed for a hysterectomy not sure how long the waiting list is but think it will be a while. They have put me on Zoladex injections 1 every 28 days which will shrink everything to make op easier. However the injection will bring on menopause 😞 hopefully not too bad well fingers crossed 🤞
So pleased you are now in the system to get this sorted. The not knowing is the worst bit. All I do know from the scan is my uterus is now distended and the fibroids are affecting organs around( presumably why I am getting pain and feeling uncomfortable). I’m 54 and peri menopausal, so if it is a hysterectomy then I am at the right age to go through menopause - although they say my ovaries are well in tact- but I don’t want any more children! Wish you all the best and hope you get your op soon!
