Urethral diverticulum

I am being assessed for Interstitial Cystitis currently. Upon examination last week, I was diagnosed with a urethral diverticulum. Has anyone been diagnosed with this? Did you have more than 1 and did you have it removed surgically? I also have Pudendal Neuralgia and have extreme pain in vagina, urethra, rectal area. Trying to know how much of this pain is from urethra problem. I also have low back problems in facet joints in sacral area. Pain Management Dr. wants to place a spinal stimulator for the pain. I’m not sure it will help the pain in more areas than just the back. Anyone have experience with any of these situations? I was first diagnosed with PN 7 years ago. Live in US, am age 75 and would like to be able to be active again!! Thanks for reading this. My prayer is that we all could be pain free!!

Hi there,

I am sorry to hear you are in so much pain. I can relate. I have several of the same problems. Not any problems with urethra though. PN can cause the rectal and pelvic pain. I have been dealing with it for 10 years. I am 66 now. I have tried lots of things. Internal trigger point therapy, Botox, PT, pain meds. It is such a rough thing and then back problems too. There is a dr in Atlanta, GA that does cryoablation of the PN. I just had this done last Monday. It could be an option for you. His name is Dr Prologo. He is an interventional radiologist and does it with a ct scan.

Yes that is my prayer too!

God bless.

I have tried lots of things too, but nothing has worked, and I have been suffering for 3 years now:( This awful condition has robbed me of any quality of life. I hope that your procedure in Atlanta is successful! Please keep us posted!

Hi anne77,

Yes, it surely has robbeb me of a quality of life too. It is so hard to not be able to do things I need to do, let alone the things I want to do. The anxiety and depression from it don't help either. If you ever decide you want to travel to Atlanta and have the procedure I can find the phone number for you. I will keep you posted.

So true! I actually have the information, but I just don't want to proceed with anything else just yet! Good luck:)

I don’t blame you. It is a lot with trying to deal with these illnesses, dr’s and procedures. I’m taking a break myself .

Hope you start feeling better. Prayers.

Tread very lightly w this doctor, my friend has pn and i.c. and she had the procedure which was insanely expensive and she came out w added pain and zero relief
