MRN in England, thanks for your help

Hi,

My wife has been in constant and often debilitating pain or throbbing in her lower back, right buttock or down her right leg for the last two years. Normal MRIs and ultrasounds come back normal. We have found londonneurography.com and started to hope but when calling their US number, we have been informed that the facility in London doesn't really exist (or doesn't really provide this service).

We live in Sweden and we are looking for a place in Europe, preferably but not necessarily UK, to do an MRN (neurography) as a last hope to get her condition diagnosed.

Any advice appreciated. Many thanks

Bob

Bob, even MRN may not show any nerve damage or entrapment.. your best way would be to see a pelvic pain management consultant who can perform a block to define what nerve is involved.. sounds like nerve issue to me, or see a neurologist and go from there. I have pudental neuralgia and my MRN didn’t really show much at all.. I was diagnosed based on symptoms

Ob/Gyn who deals with pelvic pain of all sorts, he new straightaway I had PN, I had all the symptoms. He sent me to do MRN but said they don’t heavily rely on it, as it’s rarely the nerve can be seen

I agree with Jenmal....it sounds like a nerve issue/ injury.

I thank you so much for taking the time to answer to us. The reality is that we are lost, we don't know where to go, and it is hard to believe that in today's European health systems, no one cares about someone being in constant, yet to be diagnosed, pain. My wife is 'self-investigating' two tracks now, something in the gyn area (started birth control pills which for the moment make things worse) and the piriformis syndrome (she does stretching and wears a cork insert in her shoes). Do you guys know a good place to have this investigated in the UK? If it helps anyone, the team at London Neurography responded and they confirmed that the service is no longer provided in London, and the closest location they recommend is NYC. One may wonder why the website and even and appointment request form can still be found on-line, I guess it is just somewhat dishonest attempt to attract European customers. Because as many of you know, dealing with pain does not only mean dealing with the pain itself, but with all the disappointments along the long and unknown recovery way...

Wishing you lots of health! Enjoy May 1st!

Google Pelvic Congestion Syndrome. It could be causing the PN. It's varicose veins in the pelvis. Blood pools in pelvis and cause ache throb PN pain etc, gets worse with more activity and calms down when resting. It's a circulatory issue that can cause other issues. Interventional Radiologist is who treats it. I was misdiagnosed for 8 yrs until found out about it on google. Please look into it. Hugs to your wife. I know everyday is a struggle
