Hi guys, I'm new to this website but was suggested it to see if anyone could give me any advice or tips on how to manage my pain. (Sorry in advance for a long post!)
I have had years of painful periods, and over the last year or so the pelvic pain has been getting worse, causing pain during exercise and sex. I have seen numerous doctors and specialists, had an ultrasound, and had a laparoscopy to find out if I have Endometriosis. The scans and laparoscopy have shown the doctors that things are "essentially normal" but I am frustrated without a diagnosis. And without a way of effectively managing the pain, I am missing lots of time at work every few weeks which may mean I have to attend a disciplinary meeting.
I do not want to be off work and would love to be "normal" but the pain can be so bad that I can't eat, sleep and move around. I have been into A&E before, and had an ambulance out because I couldn't move because of the pain which was unbearable. So I am saying this is NOT "essentially normal" and I need help.
I have been recommended to be on the Pill and have been on Microgynon for the last couple of months as I was recommended to take three packets in a row (i.e. 3 x 3 weeks of the Pill, without a break) with the idea that this would mean I would not have the pains until the 9th week when I would have a period. This has not worked and I have been experiencing a lot of pain which seems to occur on the third week of each packet.
I was prescribed Mebeverine, a medicine to prevent the spasms and cramps my uterus and bowel are going through, but so far it has not helped at all.
Painkillers do not usually help; I have tried paracetomol, ibuprofen, mefenamic acid and codeine. The only thing that seems to help a bit is a hot water bottle and rest.
If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know. I would appreciate any help.
Thank you.
