I didn't take the time to read everyone's posts but those women suffering from various pelvic pains and have had prolapse repair or tvt using mesh/mesh kits, IT IS PROBABLY THE MESH!! Most doctors are in denial, tvt surgeries are lucrative for them! Please, find a physician in your area that believes your mesh could be the source of your problem. No clinical trials, still no long term data - you are are their clinical trial. Complications are up to 30%! Do you research on the internet about polypropylene mesh kit for stress urinary incontinence or pelvic organ prolapse and you will find mostly attorney ads but many have pertinent information, blogs, and there are a lot of pubmed articles discussing the problems with this plastic toxic material being implanted into humans, especially women. Pudendal neuropathy is one of those serious complications. The predicate device, the Protegen Sling was recalled in 1999 and since then ALL subsequent variants of the mesh for women's pelvic issues base their "clearance" (notice not "approval") tweaked device to bring their variety to market. Again no clinical trials. The FDA statute is the 510K and it only takes 60 days and maybe $1,000 for the paperwork to be done and the device ands up in with a physician to implant into YOU. You feel lucky? 70% lucky? This device is a PERMANENT device which only a handful of doctors in the world have the skill to attempt to remove if/when you develop problems. Don't be fooled it is now safe and all the "bad" mesh is off the market, it is not. Some of the larger mesh kits for prolapse have been "discontinued" but they were not recalled. Many of these kits are no longer sold in the USA but they may be used in other countries. If it is polypropylene you are taking a huge risk with devastating and many times permanent and ongoing damage. The chronic inflammation, foreign body response, the fibrosis, nerve damage continues in polypropylene sensitive women. The FDA in 2011 said complications "ARE NOT RARE". I encourage all men and women to RESEARCH, RESEARCH. Why do you think there are over 120,000 MDL cases in the USA Federal courts (not including separate state courts). The bellwether trials continue at a snails pace but hopefully will start picking up. There are OPTIONS to plastic mesh, but you have to research and find an expert doctor who can refer you to PT first, pessaries or using old fashioned surgical suture repair, possibly cadaver or self-fascia harvesting from elsewhere in your body, which takes a lot more skill I am told. Yes, you will have a more lengthy recovery, but you will never reject your own tissues and that recovery doesn't compare to the agony you could suffer for the rest of your life with plastic in your body.

Got back from gp.bit of fruitless visit.asked her if pain is due to mesh/prolapse.Said wait til seen Gastroenterologist as that is more important it maybe related to that.concerned now it is serious and my dogs senses are right!.chrons or something else??

in reply to

Chrons is more to do with the bowel end of things NOT bladder pelvis area.so don't go there now. You said a long time ago that you were told that you had no pelvic floor muscles - that level of weakness will cause the things you describe.its quite likely that it's just that along with your usual digestive issues! Given the length of time you have had all the differing symptoms and the tests that you have had your new GP is probably talking sense, its really likely there are a few things in your insides not quite working as they once did but it seems like cancer and really serious illnesses that need seriously addressing-it ain't. Why not do as she asks and wait see what the gastro referral does. If it shows up something abnormal then you can go forward and speak to GP with knowledge not just guesses.non urgent referrals to gastro'is are around 4month wait usually.

If you had crohn's you would have diarrhoea and you have always said your bowels are normal. I know a few people with crohn's and they struggle to keep weight on in fact one is even told to eat cream cakes to try to put weight on. Waiting time for gastro appointments vary across the country if it was urgent you would be seen within two weeks non urgent up to 3 months wait unfortunately. My hubby was seen within the two week time frame but he did have red flag symptoms and was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis.

Sometimes it is better to deal with one problem at a time where hospitals are concerned as otherwise you can get into a situation where no one wants to do anything they all sit back and wait for someone else to take the lead. Am I right in thinking that you only had an endoscopy last year that showed diverticulitis?? Even people with bowel polyps which can turn to caner are only screened every three to five years.

I am certain that is what is part of the cause of my pelvic pain but I cant remember exactly when I had the mesh inserted, pelvic pain has been persistent since 2012.

in reply to

You were saying a while back that you had got copies of your medical records, have a look there it will surely give you the info on when procedures were done.

Have you checked in your diaries and hospital appointment letters as to when the op was? So you know definitely when that particular pain started.

in reply to Rosepetal60

Hi Rosepetal .

I know exactly when the pelvic(bone)pain started in 2012 because i remember him saying "im not having anything to do with your stomach"and thinking its not "my stomach"-but pelvis.

i ve looked thru my notes for 2012 and there is no record of the actual op.lots of info re leading up to it -scans bloods etc and referrals to gynae.the only reference to the op is in 2014 when he makes reference to the op being in april 2012.

Hi,

Very interested to read you letter! I've just seen my gyneocologist because of pelvic pain/ bladder prolaps etc . I also have bladder installations for recurrent UTIs which actually seem to be working.

My gyneocologist has offered me a loop to try for a few months as he has said to me he does not know whether I have pain because of my bladder or my prolapse? he said if the loop takes away the pain then is most likely the prolapse but I just don't know? I'm now wearing protection every night also of which it's not really needed all the time but I don't want to chance it?

Sometimes being a women is so hard when the pain comes it's unbearable I just live wth hot water bottles and now have marks on my lower tummy because of this. I also have SLE and other problems and sometimes feel so overwhelmed to? I just feel I'm hitting a brick wall!

Has anyone else had similar problems to me?

Would be very grateful for an answer? Thank you.

Prolapses in my experience cause bad discomfort and soreness sometimes but not pain. Still everyone is different and also it's good to remember not to do any lifting, standing or anything to make symptoms worse.

hello Rosepetal,

I cant see why they wont refer me to gynae if a prolapse or find out if its to do with the mesh support.my pain is in my pelvic bone and there is the heaviness .have had pain in my back the last couple of days -when leaning over to do jigsaw.

has anyone been told they have "obscured ovaries".this was a result from a ultrasound scan again that was only in my notes-not said.what is meant by it.i assume it means they cant be seen?

Ovaries can be obscured due to gas in the bowel

in reply to MEDIT3

Hi there, cant give you an answer to yours.

in my notes it says gp referred to physio re pelvic floor and small prolapse.dr never examined me so not sure where that came from.had physio .physio sent letter to dr which said (only seen it now in my notes) -referral to gynae.when I saw the dr he told me "she makes no suggestion of referral".he never made that referral.

I use heat pads they give some relief but its short lived.

If only a small prolapse, its prob easier to manage it yourself. Is it Bladder, Or Uterus small prolapse?. If Bladder prolapse it would not be a gynaecologist you would be seeing.

in reply to Rosepetal60

i dont know, just read "prolapse"in my notes.would possibly explain the heaviness but not the bone pain.

Hi 014-39

Will reply to you later
