Doing the liver Biopsy tomorrow morning. Any one who has had one, please chirp in. Do I have to be sedated? Or is it a doable test with out drugs. Exception might be the numbing they do. That's ok.

I did not get sedated and I regretted it. They did give me a shot to numb the area but you need more than that. I wish you the best.

It is not bad at all. It feels strange and alittle sore on the rightside afterwards. I thought it was one of the easiest test. Good luck.

Had a sonogram guided biopsy done at a US hospital and was under anesthesia the entire time. When I awoke, was already in the recovery room. They offered me a choice of drink and snack.

Was hooked up to machines monitoring vitals; had to lay on my right side. They monitored me for ~2-2.5 hours, making sure I was okay before sending me home.

A nurse also called me the next day to check on me. It was just a bit tender; otherwise, back to normal quite quickly.

Laurie62...I was given Versed only. They gave me a little extra because I said no to Fentanyl for pain. I was taken down at 8:40 and woke up drinking coffee and ordering breakfast by 9:45. I had no pain at any point. You will do just fine. Best of wishes. 😊

Don't worry!! I had one 18 months ago and it was honestly not that bad. They numbed the area and the initial entry of the needle stings for a few seconds, but it is totally bearable. I just kept relaxed as I possibly could and it was over fairly quickly. I was surprised afterwards how quick it was and nowhere near as scary as I had imagined it was going to be 😊. Hope all goes well, don't worry...it will be fine if you relax.

I had one done last year. It was fine. The worse thing was having to lie still for around 6 hours afterwards and not eat anything!!

OMGosh! Thankyou for your input new friends. All went well, Ill know the results next week. I'm so happy I found this site and all the info, encouragement and friendliness that comes with it! I opted out for the sedation. It went well. Way better than I thought. I was hurting about 30 minutes after, but Tylenol worked just fine. Stayed for 4 hours, then home I went, then to bed lol and slept off and on the rest of the day and today feel great, little tender but up and about =]
