Is it ok to take turmeric when you have PBC? And is it ok to take with ursodiol?
Turmeric : Is it ok to take turmeric when you... - PBC Foundation
Turmeric
Turmeric is 'just' a food, and is fine to take. Go to the Turmeric Users Group on Facebook where medical advice on the use of turmeric with different conditions of humans and animals is available. Tuemeric is best used as 'golden paste' with coconut oil and black pepper to bring out it's anti inflammatory properties!
I am currently on a medical trial for PBC and am monitored regularly at QMC Nottingham. The trial is overseen by Professor Steven Ryder and he has confirmed it is fine for me to take turmeric supplement. I have been on turmeric for just over a year now and it has been amazing in eliminating the constant aches and pains associated with PBC due to inflammation.
Hope this helps.
Hi. I am very interested in taking this. Could you tell how much you take and in what form.
Stay well

Hi Tracey
The brand I purchase on Amazon is 'Turmeric Vitality' Organic Turmeric with organic black pepper and ginger. It comes in capsules and I take two a day (one in the morning and one at night). I think the recommended dose is 4 capsules per day but I don't feel I need this. It made a real difference to me very quickly (within days if I remember rightly). I swapped onto this brand from the one I first started on because this was about half the price; there has been no difference in the product's effectiveness.
One bit of advice would be to ensure you take it with or around the time you eat as I have heard of others saying it makes them sick if not taken with food. To be honest, I had taken it for a long time (often without food) and it never made me feel sick.
If you decide to try it out, I hope it goes well for you and helps. I know the constant aches and pains made me feel miserable and prevented me from doing many activities. I don't consider that I really have any aches and pains now.
Good luck!
Jane
