Hi everyone, I have just received my first prescription of urso in spain. It is still in casual form like I had in the UK but a yellow and green one. My normal one was white. My Dr has put on the prescription, take one every eight hours. I normally take all three after breakfast. Does anyone else take this? It doesn't say anything on the enclosed leaflet about taking them all together. Would appreciate some thoughts on this.
Urso I. Spain: Hi everyone, I have just... - PBC Foundation
Urso I. Spain
I take mine all at evening. Directions on box still say take them multiple times a day, but this was intended only to be for the initial period of getting used to them. Consultant told me to take them all together as soon as it was established that I was a responder with no adverse symptoms.. Is there a patient inf leaflet with the capsules? Maybe you"d like to ask PBCRobert? That way you can be sure you get good advice. x
Hi,
When I first had Urso was told three times a day, and after a while told to take it all at once, at night is best.
Post tp have just been prescribed it again. My consultant told me to take it three times a day for first three weeks and then all together, at night is best.
His reasoning was that I hadn’t taken it for 4.5 months post tp so needed to break it in gently for the first few weeks.
Hi huggy, was interested to see you are post txp and taking urso again... Me too.
I had mine in 2017...but unfortunately the fatigue has kicked back in pretty strongly... What about you???
Had a few months at the beginning where I felt well... But gradually due to complications and the recurrent pbc I'm back pre txp 2/3 years pre op.
I do have very little itch or nausea so immensely grateful for that... But the rest is back...!!!
How about you?? When did you have your txp??
Best wishes cazer.
Morning Cazer,
Well, you’re asking of the question about fatigue is timely. I was just this minute thinking god I feel tired.
Had tp 5 months ago at qehb, and in the last three to four weeks have been feeling tired again. I only ever had itching at one point on my leg, which is now scarred!! 🤪 I have just started itching it again but no where near so bad!!
Fortunately all my bloods are good, and in general I feel great!! I have been told that fatigue will be a cross that we have to bear!!!
How often are you being followed up now?? How are your bloods looking??
Andy.
I would follow your doctor’s direction. I take mine after breakfast & also after dinner.
There is no real data to support either approach. That said, some of the more eminent clinicians recommend taking all with your evening meal. No idea why though.
I think what time of the day you take them depends on each consultant /doc.. I've done both over the years... Is 8 the correct amount for your weight and height... You can look on the leaflet.. In the pack.
See how you feel if you have any bad reaction to this spread out regime... Go back to the doc and ask to change back... It may even suit you better..
Best wishes cazer.
I take 4 every morning have done this for years I am very lucky I don’t have any side affects.
Hi Spanishnan l take all mine of an evening before bed l initially took them 3 times a day but my consultant said it’s fine to take them all at once in the evening, l fortunately respond well and my lfts are back in range and pray they stay that way, l don’t have many symptoms apart from occasional itch and this damn fatigue. I’m off to Spain soon but will take all my meds with me. x
Mine are white. They’ve changed colors a few times, i guess diff manufacturers. I take 500mg in the morning and at bed time. Was told if i miss, not to take together.
Hi. I regularly see a gastroenterologist, but last month was asked to be seen by a Consultant Hepatologist, who told me that my daily dose of Urso 600mg was too low, and upped me to 900mg. He added that I could continue taking it in one dose which I was already doing in the afternoon. I'm happy to do that as it's easier than trying to work it in among all my other medications.
I used to take mine after evening dinner. I used to get a lot of acid reflux during the night but I think it was due to eating sweets or little snacks too late. The only problem I have is taking 6 of the 150gm tablets as they are not coated. I take them in two lots of three. First lot is fine but when taking the 2nd three, they tend to stick to my throat. I used to have 200mg coated tablets which were fine but they've stopped manufacturing them. I have lunch at 1pm so have a snack at 3pm to take the Urso, and I've stopped snacking late at night, so no acid reflux. Hope you can get your indigestion under control.
