Since January I've been taking Urso made by the same manufacturer. Recently I've changed pharmacies because their price is 20.00 cheaper. When I went to pick up my prescription there, I saw it was made by a different manufacturer than the one I've always had. I was immediately concerned that it might not have the same potency and could cause different side effects. I've been on it now for a couple of days, and I have noticed a change. About an hour after I take it, I immediately feel very tired. It has me worried, and I want to just call my doctor to get it renewed again at my original pharmacy. Has any had any experiences with different manufacturers on Urso?

Worried about Different Manufacturers for Urso
Hi,
I had a switch in manufacturer of URSO capsules and felt like they gave me more side effect than the other. Whether I was "imagining" it or it was fillers in the capsules or "whatever" I got pharmacy to keep ordering the original manufacturers version that seemed to "agree" with me better.
Why have any added stress with PBC as it is.. so I try to control the things that I can control.
Others have reported similar problems so it's good to see real people's experience- very affirming!
Good luck to you.
Thank you Eileen. That's what I feel about the added stress that I just don't need. My doctor orders the generic of ursodiol (248.00). My insurance doesn't even cover the brand name. At this new pharmacy, I'm paying for it out of pocket with a discount card (228.00). The price I have to pay is ridiculous, and that creates more stress for me too. I'm going to ask my original pharmacy if they will keep giving me the same manufacturer I've always had and then ask my doctor to renew my prescription again. I'll have to pay for it again, but it's worth it for my peace of mind. It's good to know that people have gone through the same thing.
That's awful! I have no insurance. I used a pharmacy discount card we received from our cable provider. I got 2 months at Walmart for $143
Wow that's a good price. I have a needy-meds discount card. I didn't know you could get a discount card from cable. Would you mind telling me the name of your card? I can call Walmart to find out their price. Thanks for the info!
It is Singlecare & is provided through Suddenlink Communications. But I believe you have to have the card because you have to register with Singlecare. Try googling Singlecare & maybe you can get it that way. They even pay OTC meds as long as written by your dr. Check it out & let me know😊
Go to singlecare.com
I don't believe potency could differ but, like the previous reply mentioned, different fillers could be used & I have heard of people having different side effects as a result. It seems some pharmacies sometimes try to go for the cheaper option...Best thing to do is to get your doc to specify the brand/make you want on your prescription rather than leaving it generic.
No, I'm on Oclavia but my internist told me as far as my thyroid, it is not advisable to change brands. For whatever that's worth😊
I know it's like rubbing salt in a wound but thank goodness for NHS here in Blighty, whilst we have it that is. Hope you guys get the meds that suit you I occasionally get a cheap version instead of Ursofalk but luckily I have no problems. Good luck out there
I am in US and get 3 months of Ursodiol by mail for $10. The manufacturer did change when I switched over to filling my prescription by mail through OptumRx. Not liking it since my stomach stays upset longer than when taking the Urso pills manufa tured by Mylar.
I'm glad you don't pay a lot for Urso. It's hard to understand such a difference in prices. My insurance puts Ursodiol on Tier 4 which is the most expensive. Maybe that explains the price difference. I hope your stomach calms down as time goes by. Thanks for the information, and I'll check out OtumRx.
