Woke up this morning with yellowish eyes. My last Bilirubin reading was 7 which is well within the range. Bit down in the dumps as I eat healthy and don’t drink alcohol. Was diagnosed with PBC 10+ years ago and was doing ok till this year my ALT is rising too. Don’t see my hepatologist till August but seeing my GP next week. Any tips from you guys would be great. I read Tomato Juice with salt and pepper is helpful

Not sure about tomato juice but tomatoes are from the nightshade family and although reported to be a good anti cancer food I understand the alkaloids in them may be inflammatory. Salt is also not that great on our system so it depends on how much you use. Hope someone with more info comes along soon to help.

Thank you. I was surprised to read about tomato juice as I don’t eat Toms I thought they were bad for aches due to arthritis, salt for me is a no go I don’t use it,so a bit confused. Thought I may get some other suggestions but nothing so far. Fed up with feeling crap and something new cropping up almost seems daily I have something else wrong. Haven’t looked in the mirror yet to see what colour my eyes are. 🤢

Hope someone can come up with a good suggest on. Do you drink lots of water?

Yep at least 1.5 litres a day, eat all the right stuff for healthy liver which makes it so annoying when things go wrong it’s a bit disappointing. Like you I have lots of other stuff going on,gall stones (which I find strange as Urso is supposed to be used to disperse them.)Hiatus Hernia, Osteopenia, amongst others. Better get my butt out of bed see what today brings. Take care

Low fat, little and more often rather than bit meals...

Carbs I find have helped with nausea.

Exercise is supposed to help but I found I was not able to do hardly anything.

Vits a, e, d, k... Are the ones we don't absorb properly.... So I did have those on script from consultants.

If you have yellowing eyes I think you should probably go straight to the docs and I expect they will want a blood test.

Unfortunately pbc although you can help yourself a bit is a disease which rules the roost and we don't get much of a choice about its path...

Best wishes.. Let's hope its a temporary blip... Very best wishes cazer.

I can’t offer any advice about jaundice but wanted to say we are here and can relate to being fed up with being sick and tired especially when somrthing new crops up. Your bilirubin is the same as mine so it’s in the normal range and yes the gall stones ,I thought that odd too. I only had them for a short while but pbc over 10 years I agree it seems odd. A trip to your doctor seems in order, is it possible this is due to the gall stones and not the Pbc.

Thank you my eyes (at least one of them is) almost back to normal today it was just a bit of a shock. Could be gall stones I didn’t think of that but thought that they gave a lot of pain if they got worse. I was away last week so probably over did it also didn’t sleep too well. This site is brilliant for sharing that’s for sure. Sometimes it seems we are on our own but we have our PBCers to help and there are lots worse off I know.

I would definitely say go to the doctor. I kept postponing having another liver biopsy and when I finally did, it was confirmed I had AIH. My eyes have been yellow for sometime .

Thanks sorry to hear you have AIH along with PBC are you on immunosuppressants. My gastro tried to get me to take them but I was so poorly I refuse to take them. I then changed to a Hepatologist at a different hospital as I challenged the diagnosis my new consultant is 90% sure I don’t have the AIH overlap I’m just wondering now if that’s what’s going on. Eyes back to normal now thank goodness

I am on immunosuppressants. I think a biopsy result is pretty hard to ignore. Although well I am still working and have good health insurance I think I’m going to go to the mayo clinic for a complete second opinion/work up. I’m also on steroids now which sucks because my whole body feels around and it made it really hard to sleep at first. Unfortunately I think I did air reparable damage to my liver by waiting so long for the diagnosis

Yellowish is the sign of liver inflammation so the best thing you can do till you see your dr is eat light food which are easy to digest with plenty of water in my suggestion
