Does anyone else suffer with pain after eating which on some occasions I can only describe as 'gallbladder- gallstone' type pain (really painful) for around 10-15 mins and other times mild discomfort. Had my gallbladder removed 15mths ago. I suffered this a little pre diagnosis (11/2016) been on urso 3 maths now wonder if it's connected. Stupidly ate a cream cake once suffered the consequences for about 20 mins after won't be doing that again. Scarily it puts you off eating. Not seeing consultant till end of April as my bloods have returned to normal and don't really want to contact my gp as we know they are not always clued up on PBC.
Thanks in advance for reading and any advice you might have x

Yes unfortunately I experience that too regularly. Not had a solid answer yet as to the cause of it. It is worse after I eat rich fatty foods but equally can sometimes be when the foods aren't that.
Yes, to be honest it is a mystery. I feel like it's an ongoing puzzle to find info on and feel a little more in control by finding out about PBC.
If you haven't yet, it's worth joining the PBC Foundation and attending meet ups and workshops, these have helped me. They can be useful for info and for meeting others in the same boat.
Thanks I have joined because I googled PBC when first diagnosed. I had loads of questions at that time, as I expect we all do and no where to turn for answers and felt quite vulnerable and scared for a time. This forum and people as been a godsend. Thanks. Also emerich reply has been interesting, which I will check out.
I'm glad. Yep did exactly the same thing and saw all sorts of intense worrying stats about deterioration and lifespans. If only medical staff directed us straight to places like the Foundation would be so much more reassuring!
They have done a scan for gallstones for the same reason but not got any, have had the discomfort since diagnosis x
Thank you for replying emerich I completely dismissed gallstones, even though the pain is very similar, so I will definitely be seeing gp asap. Thank you for taking the time to help me x
I started my journey with the same problem severe pain and was rushed to have my gallbladder removed only to have the very same pain the day after surgery , I then went on to have several tests done and that is when they found I had PBC , I still get the pain and we never did find what causes it.
Hi. Have a look at sphincter of oddi dysfunction. I was diagnosed 16 years ago with it after talking my gall bladder out made things worse not better. Last month after years of being told for years all my pain and tiredness and raised lfts were down to sphincter of oddi dysfunction i changed Drs and new Drs said he thought it might be pbc as well as the SOD, and sent me to see a liver specialist who referred me to liver biopsy and yes I have pbc.
I only changed Drs because I had breast cancer surgery in October and felt too sick to travel to see my Gastro dr after radiation.
I too have this problem, but a scan previously had shown some small gall stones. I take lanzoprazole which might help but it is very painful when it does happen.
