Do I need special medical holiday insurance?

I have had PBC over 10 years, remain pretty healthy and almost asymptomatic except for light itch and that comes and goes. Since diagnosis I've paid for specialist medical insurance each time I've been on holiday , but have never had an issue or made a claim. I do not need to tick any of the boxes such as, have you been hospitalised, do you have varices. Do I need to pay out for special insurance?

You need to declare all your medical issues past and present.

Please explain more…..if I’m not likely to have any reason to get treatment for my “PBC” why would it need to be included in a 1 week holiday insurance?

Because they are the ones deciding on the risk. You have to declare everything past and present. It's how insurance works. Recently a woman in the UK didn't declare her hrt medication and wasn't covered for something totally unrelated.

Declare everything is my advice or you won't be covered for even a broken arm

Staysure in the UK seem pretty good, I do not believe it is a special medical insurance.

Like you my PBC is well controlled with no symptoms apart from some fatigue. However I still pay high health insurance because I was told not to declare PBC would nullify the insurance. The cost affects where in the world I can holiday. The Caribbean is sadly out of my reach now.

This must be something the UK does. Here in the US there is no 'preexsting conditons' now on any health insurance you take out. Everything is automatically covered. This is a huge thing for us who have a chronic illness. I'm so sorry you won't ever see that Caribbean.

Thankfully I saw it before PBC but would have liked to go again
