Hi all, started on azathiropine as being treated ow for AIH as well as PBC . Has anyone who is in similar situation ?my question is .. if on immunosuppressant for the AIH should that not in turn stop the immune system attacking the bile ducs and subsequently no longer need to take urso ?
Azathiropine. : Hi all, started on... - PBC Foundation
Azathiropine.
I only was diagnosed with AIH but was put only on Urso and I’m in no other autoimmune suppressant. I don’t know but I think you shouldn’t stop the Urso before talking to your doctor or seek othe doctor opinion.
Why
Sorry Jenny I don’t know what do you mean by why? If about autoimmune suppersent, I don’t know why. I do also suffer from Asthma, Hypothyroidism and arthritis. May spleen out since 1981!
You should be taking Urso as well
I’m sorry. I read your post wrong.
What country are you in?
Australia
I’m taking prednisone as well as AZA and Urso. My eyes are not that great today. I read your post a second and third time. I guess I didn’t read it right the first time
No worries Jenny
Hi Angel74
I'm not very clued up but I should be after almost 8 years. As far as I'm aware nothing will cure us. The medication just helps to slow down the progression hence why we will stay on the Urso xx
I was put in high doses of prednisone and azithiaprine back in 2008 as they thought I had AIH as well. I continued to take the Urso per my doc’s instructions. After almost 2 months on the pred and az, my numbers did not improve so they ruled out the AIH. The Urso is needed to help move or thin the bile through the damaged bile ducts (if I remember that correctly). The other meds may reduce or slow the inflammation if they work, but since the ducts are already damaged and possibly scarred, they still need assistance.
