Fasting before bloodwork?

Anyone know if you need to fast before bloodwork for liver enzymes and AMA? I am getting retested tomorrow. I’ve left a message at my doctors office, but haven’t heard back from them. This is the first time I’m not having cholesterol checked at the same time and if I don’t have to fast, I would go later in the day. Thanks!

If they’re only checking lfts then no you don’t have to fast. I usually have my breakfast before going.

Good luck.

I always try to fast but with liver enzymes no we don’t have to fast. I’m not sure if we need to fast with AMA. Good luck to you with your results

I only have to fast when they are also checking cholesterol, however when I’m unsure I just fast. If you do decide to fast make sure you drink enough water.
