I was diagnosed with PBC in May and have been on 1000 mg of URSO since.Today I went in for blood work. Results in May for Alkaline Phosphatase were 200 today 154.Alt was 94 now 83.AST was 51 and now 46.My Gastrologist said he is referring me to a Hepatologist next week.He said the numbers weren't where he thought they would be at this time and didn't decrease like he wanted.I am in NW Ohio and suggesting I go to Cleveland or OSU in Columbus.

PBCTracy,
Hey, it lowered your number some. I'd be happy about that. I realize they want them lower... are you taking the right amount of URSO for your weight? I know when I gained some weight awhile back my numbers really didn't move. When I lost weight again my numbers dropped. Just a thought.
How are you feeling? Any pain or fatigue? Another positive thing is that a hepatologist IS who you should be seeing anyway. That's a liver specialist. So don't worry too much until you see the hepatologist. Make sure your taking the right amount of URSO for your weight, and stick to a liver friendly diet too. And don't wait months to see your hep. Try to get in as soon as you can.

Hi!I am in Ohio.Gastro Doc said weight is just right for Urso currently.Only had liver pain twice...a little fatigue here and there.Waiting for call back on Monday for Hepatologists in-network for my insurance. Thanks for your reply!
Keep us posted how it goes. We all learn from each other. Hopefully your hepatologist can figure out what's happening.
I read on here somewhere that When someone wasn't responding to URSO that their URSO was slightly increased. I can't remember who posted that. But you ARE responding... just not where they want to see it. Ask your hepatologist about that... If increasing your URSO would have any benefit. Maybe others on here know something about that. There's also the combo of taking URSO and Ocaliva too. He may mention that too in order to see better results.
