I've just read that article too! She claims to have had underachieve thyroid and was on Levothyroxine, but now doesn't need medication. Her liver scan is better year on year. She no longer itches and her liver cysts have disapproved. She doesn't feel ill and has no fatigue. Can this all be believed, from a bottle of coconut oil??

I am definitely going to get myself a bottle of coconut oil. No harm in trying. I have tried so many stuff through the years and for the itch, my place looks like a chemist

Biddyb,

Keep us posted please! Thanks for sharing.

Hmmm...I'm a little skeptical as I use coconut oil almost everyday, sometimes in coffee but nothing has changed. I know coconut oil has Amazing properties & I use it all the time topically for itch, scars etc but I've read it's not the best oil for the liver. I'm no expert, just saying be cautious. I'm desperate to sort itch & fatigue but so far nothing works. My itch comes and goes and has super flare ups & im just trying to work out the triggers! Saying that, my lfts are normal. I'm still baffled at this disease. Thank you for posting this. I shall investigate more! I will try just about anything.

May be the PBC Foundation could help us about whether Coconut Oil is good for the liver.

It's not something I've consumed But I buy a cheap pot from the chemist for the dry skin on my legs, I don't have the itch so can't say if it helps that or not.

However I have been reading up about medium chain fatty acids and there are those who beleive these fats help fatigue which has been my constant companion for three years or more, which is why I was interested in finding out about them.

Coconut oil contains medium chain fatty acids so maybe it warrants further research.

I think the main reason she posted about the coconut oil was the fact that she didn't realise it was making her feel well until she stopped taking it. I am due to get blood results on Wednesday when I see my GP it will be interesting to see the effect. Can't do any harm I hope and better than taking more drugs
