I've noticed that a few on here are using coconut oil with the thoughts that it is good on the liver. I too was using this but remembered reading somewhere that it was not a good idea. So I asked my university heptologist about it & this was his reply. I ment to post this when I received it but forgot. So please, just like with sugar & red meats, among other things we are uncertain about, use in moderation.

Thanks for sharing this news!
have you heard about turmeric powder for anti inflammation, it is very popular right now but as webmd it says not to take if you have a gallstone and bile duct obstruction problem!!
I do take everyday twice tho 🤔
This would not be a good idea for me to use. I had my gallbladder removed at 19 which was the beginning of my digestive issue journey. I now believe that my problem had always been PBC. Also, the fact that PBC is basically where our immune system is attacking our bile ducts of the liver it sounds unsafe. I recently was informed that Im between stages F3-F4 cirrhosis. Thank you for share this also🙂
It might not be good for all of us..in nbc, cbc and dr. Oz episode, they all were talking about the benefit of turmeric for arthritis, liver problem and inflammation diseases..I'm taking it since 2014 and my dr said ok when I asked him long time back...it is very early in research as well so I will dig more and I will share my findings..
To the contrary, a natural path told me to take "Stone Free" by iHerb to remove the gallstone/kidney stone. Here's the list of the ingredients:
Proprietary Blend:
Turmeric Root, Dandelion Root Extract, Parsley Root, Ginger Root, Lemon Balm Leaf, Coin-Leaf Desmodium Aerial Parts, Lysimachia Aerial Parts, Licorice Root, and Marshmallow Root Extract.
The reason for taking it is due to the calcium oxalate in my urine which may form kidney stone. Also, I had gallbladder removed because of sludge. Since gall stone is formed in the liver, removing gallbladder did not address the root issue. We still need to purge the stone in the liver. It all make sense but I am not sure what is the best remedy for it. -

So turmeric is bad for pbc?
I have never heard turmeric is bad for PBC. Most blogs say Turmeric is good for cirrhosis.
My dr said no to me
I've got my appointment tomorrow with the liver specialist, I'm really nervous. After reading this I'm more nervous as my mum had scleroderma. I have no symptoms only slight dizziness sometimes.
Does anyone know what will happen tomorrow at my first appointment please?
This will most likely be a basic consult. He'll run some bloodwork & possibly get you going on the Urso. Im not a doctor by any means but this is usually wether most of us began. Best of luck!!!
Stay strong❣️

Agreed. I have been using coconut oil for a while but I noticed that my cholesterol has increased quite a bit. Even though my doctor told me coconut oil is 'good' oil. I am cutting it back.
hi Shulsey, i dont ingest coconut oil but love using it daily as an all over moisturiser. Now I am wondering...
