High bilirubin

Guys I am freaking out.... did full Fbc and liver test and all came out normal but for my total bilirubin .... 54 total and 11 direct..... can someone guide me. Am 46 and otherwise healthy man. Thanks

Raised bilirubin might come with external symptoms such as yellowing around the eyes and may indicate that the liver is under some sort of stress. There is a good article at this link:

It seems that a consultation with your doctor would help to clarify your situation. I think but do not know for certain that to have a diagnosis for PBC the ALP (alkaline phosphate) has also to be elevated and many doctors ask for a liver biopsy to confirm that diagnosis.

Unfortunately there are other conditions which MAY be indicated with elevated bilirubin but only your doctor can advise you.

In all cases stress is a common enemy for all of us and it is easier said than done to try not to worry so if you can get an emergency appointment with your GP or a telephone call booked and get some answers.
