Thin hair with my PBC
Hi Dese
I too have been on Ursofalk for about 9 months, & my hair has definitely gone thinner ( I've never had thick hair, which makes it all the worse !! ) I was almost sure that I had read somewhere that thinning hair was a possible side effect, but just checked the leaflet info, & it doesn't actually list it. Perhaps someone else can enlighten us ?
I've resorted to old fashioned rollers to give my hair some volume, which is a faff 🙁
On the positive side, my blood results are so much better since taking Ursofalk 👍

Hello Dese.
I have always had pretty fine hair but can't say that since starting urso over 5yrs ago it has made any difference to how my hair is, still looks the same as always.
I don't have perms, never have had one yet but I do occasonally use a colour (semi sometimes, others permanent).
I tyr to use a small amount of conditioner as it makes brushing the hair easier and also likely to cuase less hair loss on brushing it. I don't wash my hair daily, I tend to every other day.
They say that a woman going through or completing menopause (I've not quite got there yet completion-wise) can start to have thinner hair due to the hormones so it might just be that.
My head hair is alright but I've lost eyebrows legs & other!! Oh & arms but they've told me it's my condition not the urso. X
Hi Teddybear! Just wondering if you have had your thyroid checked? Your pattern of hair loss is very common with an underactive thyroid. I also have no eyebrows or arm hair, and recently my head hair has started thinning, and I was diagnosed with the thyroid condition at the same time as PBC, some 15 years ago. The two conditions often go hand in hand.
Best wishes.
Hi Dese
I have always had fine hair, been diagnosed around 10 years and have passed through menopause. A combination of PBC and menopause now means I have quite thin hair, not sure if it was the URSO contributing to thinning hair but put it down to change in hormones and PBC. I was always a very healthy sort prior to diagnosis.
best wishes
Urso or PBC not sure on that, but I do have very thin hair and seems to be getting worse. Also lost the outer half of my eye brows which I read could be thyroid but mine was okay, so it was interesting to read teddybear7.
I noticed my hair thinning and posted the same question a while back. The American health authorities list thinning hair as a side effect to taking urso not the British! I don't know why but I know it's true because I looked it up on google.
I took Biotin for a while and it did have some effect, I have now started to use regaine but it's expensive and makes your hair shed more at first, once you start to use it you have to carry on. I can't say that it is working yet as i haven't been on it long enough
Hi dolly daydreams, I was using the men's regaine its stronger. for almost a year but I can't say I noticed any better results. I do have alopecia and underactive thyroid. With Pbc which is the new one.

Hi Twinkle, i am using the womens new one that is the same strength as the men's but you only put it on once a day, a lady on facebook said she uses the men's on and her gastro told her to put it on twice a day, so I may try it but I have an appointment with a gastro that is very up on PBC on the 19th so I will ask him first before i do.
Me too, i have recent diagnosis did your hair eventually stop falling out and thinning, it is distressing me so much too ,
