Pbc hair loss and backpain
Hi, I suffer from hair lost too,so I understand how you feel, not sure if it PBC or the medication URSO causing it, some doctor say it the medication some say it PBC 😮 I am 38 yrs of age .. I might have to look into wigs one day...! 🙁 not many doctors understand the condition PBC enough... because it suppose to be a slow progressing disease not enough research goes into PBC.
I also experience hair loss and as you, not sure what's causing it. I'm more inclined to think it is a part of the autoimmune system general response. PBC is just one of the auto immune disorders that many of us have. I, for example, have also hypothyroidism and one other chronic auto-immune disorder. Hair loss, could be also connected to the immune system and not directly to PBC or urso. I also take 500 mg urso, twice a day.
Hi Pinkffloyd
I was actually diagnosed 6 years ago, but have had PBC for at least 25 years. Sorry to hear you’re suffering, I can’t comment on your back pain, but I can identify with the hair loss, as Urso is generic I have discovered that the only brand which significantly reduces my hair loss is URSOFALK, apparently it is down to the various fillers they use in the production of the medication. After speaking to my GP, my monthly prescription now stipulates the brand.
Hope this helps.
Best wishes. X
I was diagnosed many years with PBC. Being a hairdresser at the time it was a nightmare for me to start to lose my hair. I tried every product available with no cure. My Gastro consultant referred me to a dermatologist who concluded I also had a condition called Lichen Planus. Subsequently I’ve been wearing a wig which can get a wee bit hot although receiving all the compliments like “your hair always looks lovely” outweighs the other issues. I’m now 75 years young and more or less completely bald enjoying every day as it comes.
Thanks very much for all your replies its all new to me so its the not knowing its not very nice for my mental health as I had generalized anxiety before all of this I've been told I have osteoporosis as well so waiting to go back to hospital to see where I am
