I do not mind the test so much but God I hate the prep! The Gastro. Put me on something called Sur - Prep. It was so sickly sweet I was running to the bathroom and throwing up at the same time! I ate nothing for two days and only drank liquids. I never did finish the final dose. I had the test and I did survive and they only found I very small pollop. I had terrible gass pains for a few hours afterward. So glad that is over! I now have five years to wait and I can do it all over again!

I hope you are feeling better now. Its a horrible process to go through but worth it. Hope they removed the polyp! Better caught early.
Hello again.....you certainly did have some experience there. My son had a colonoscopy a few years ago now, I remember that he had to take some yellow powdery sachets the day before. He didn't become sick but was stuck on the loo for hours on end as I recall.
He said when I collected him from the hospital that he was glad he didn't have the sedation as the camera only went into the first part, was over and done in a very short time. He did suffer wind for awhile after but fortuantely for him nothing was found.
Glad it is all over now.
Hi, 2006, I had a colonoscopy three years ago after a bowel cancer test came back as suspicious. I agree it's an unpleasant thing to go through but mostly the preparation for it rather than the test. A small polyp was found in my case which was removed and I was told that the test would be repeated in three years which is the end of this year. Since that test I have been diagnosed with PBC so am not sure whether I will be asked back for it or not. I was diagnosed a year ago with PBC and recently asked my consultant if this should have been picked up when I had blood tests before the colonoscopy, he looked at my records and couldn't find any history of previous blood tests so I am no clearer about this. I think the test was worth it anyway as it did get the polyp out of the way which I didn't know I had at the time.
