This is a very surreal day for me. Today is exactly 20 years since I received the phone call telling me that they had a liver for me. Exact moments in time that followed in the hours and days ahead are as fresh as if they happened yesterday.

It's hard to believe that 20 years has gone by because of the decision a family or individual made likely in a very sad moment for them. Grateful seems such a small word but I truly am.

Today, I hope, each of you find one thing to be grateful for. Live life to the fullest!

How will you celebrate Donna? Sounds a good enough reason to go to a smart cafe and treat yourself to a pot of tea and selection of cakes - do you have ‘Afternoon Tea’ where you live?

I have actively practised gratitude over many years and now it’s becoming an automatic response for me. I used to imagine every day I started off wearing a string around my neck and every time something good happened it became a gem on the string - some were small and some were big - I reviewed them at the end of the day and was often surprised to have created a full necklace!

No, we don't have 'afternoon tea' but I love the idea of just taking the time to stop and relax. Sometimes our days just overwhelm us... we all need to step back and see where we can manage our time better on some days. Take time for ourselves with that cup of tea might be just what we need.

Oh, Donna, i can’t even put into words how your strength, courage and optimism does to me. Reading your post put a lump in my throat. We do have so much to be grateful for. Celebrate! Two decades is something else!

Best wishes, Donna! To your next 20 good years! If I may ask - after you got the new liver, PBC was gone forever or it returned?

Unfortunately, it isn't the liver that really causes the PBC. It is your same body what rejects itself. About 25% of liver recipients have PBC reoccur. I have had the very beginning of PBC returning for the last few years.. my numbers are good though. No itching and occasional fatigue. I am truly blessed.
