good morning, I am wondering if taking a multi vitamin and mineral supplement would be too much along with the cofactors that we need to take with our B12 I take methyl folate , iron, vit d, mk7, potas, and mag. and B12. I'm starting my 8th month inj. and am able to handle more of the cofactors now. but would that be overdoing some of the cofactors?

I can't answer your question as I don't know enough. But I saw this posted on another forum. It might be of interest.

Hello,
well thank you for your comments and I read the link, I would have to find something without so much b6, I just changed over to a methyl folate and found a big difference in my brain so I may have needed the methyl folate. I have to inject for now 3 ml a day to get by, maybe late years I won't need so much maybe but I can not function on 1 ml a day. I feel I run out of supplements in my system really fast even resting most of the day. I'm 8 months just starting it. with injecting and still could barely function on 1 ml so for now this is it. the 3rd one is for the evening night time.
Multivits usually contain 400mcg folic acid .So if your methyl folate is a maintenence dose and you are not folate deficient it may , added up be too high a dose??
It's adding it all up .
I personally only took iron when prescribed.
Then by blood test results.
My folate level rose very quickly on 40omcg of folic acid .
I now only have a multi vit every other day .
One us aimed at over 50 women 200mcg folic acid thr other a slightly different mix has 400mcg folic acid .
Both cousin z little iron.
A recent blood test showed that is right for me .
As folate level at top of the range and not over now .
I started quite low but never had s loading dose.
I did have loading doses of vitamin D at some stage before B12 test done.
I need daily vit D and k2 though .
Only just in range on 2000iu vit D daily
So it's very individual .
Just beware of overdosing on certain vits and minerals.
Especially folate and iron .
It did take ovef a yesr to balance things.
A big dose of B12 regularly bound to knock other things out of whack.
yes Nackapan I will have to search and pray for the right multi and I do have a methyl issue with folate I found out even though my range in bloods was good at 20 I could not function hardly at all until i tried the methyl folate our Lord let me to that did not bother my tummy . I will have to keep looking so not to over to it and the b6 as well.
I have started to take Mylas Seamoss which has a lot of vitamins and minerals the body needs.I also take
Vid D/K2
Magnesium
Omega 3
Organic greens powder which covers all B vitamins apart from B12 which I self inject twice a week.
I am of yhr thinking our food consumption is no where near the recommended allowance a body needs to function properly so for me I am always looking to improve. Hence my new purchase of the seamoss.
I forgot I also take black seed oil to help with inflamation.
As long as you don't take silly high doses I cannot see the issue.
Scientist, not medic.
Be very careful with iron. Unless you're proven to be iron deficient it's best to avoid any extra. Iron is scarce in the human diet, so we don't have any process to get rid of excess, unlike the water soluble stuff. Iron will build up in tissues. If taken in significant excess in the short term, it can be directly toxic due to generation of free radicals.
I take the same as you minus the potassium. I also take a B complex including B6, but I understand from the post that has been linked to on this thread that if you take the pyridoxal 5 phosphate form of B6 rather than pyridoxine, you won't be at risk of toxicity? I also didn't think you could overdose on folic acid? I take Dr K's recommended 5mg with my injection every other day.
do what works
I take the following:
b-multivitamin w/o b-6
B-6 P5P form (non toxic) 50 mg
Magnesium glycinate or malate 300mg two to 3 times a day. Eat fiber like veggies or sauerkraut and that helps prevent the runs.
it took me doing daily injections for a year and a half to get back to normal. Still have to do daily injections to stay normal 4 years now.
You need to be careful to not get too much potassium or iron.
