Does anyone know the optimal level of ferritin. The range is 15 to 200 which is a large range.mine runs around 20. Been feeling scrappy for 2 years which co insider with finding low b12 level. I inject monthly so was wondering about ferritin?

Could be . Mine was 29 and I had symptoms of shakines and out of breath .Restless legs. Try and raise it between 50-70

Ferritin is a store and people function well with your level but some do not. A previous blood test result as a bench mark would be useful.

The only one I had before was 68.

It's now 58 ans those particular symptoms have mostly gone. A huge improvement.

Do consult with tour doctor. Mi e was unconcerned but as I was so symptomatic agreed to try iron and monitor. It took a year to get my level up as couldnt tolerate the high doses of ferrous fumerate my Gp prescribed. 320mgmixed with folate if I remember rightly.

I take ferrous fumerate 210mg every other dat now with spartone and or Solgar gentle iron. Multivit gi have around 14mg.

So definitely worth a chat with Gp. Follow up blood test in 3 months. Keeo a diary.

Look up symptoms of low ferritin.

Hope this helps.

Yup. See your doc and ask for a full set of iron tests - serum iron, transferrin, ferritin, and Total Iron Binding Capacity.

I have coeliac. When diagnosed 13 years ago ferritin was 7. Since then it's always been 20 to 24.never higher

Is your red cell count low too? Are you anemic? If so ask about iron infusion. They are very reluctant to do them but restore ferritin in days rather than months on tabs. There is now an iron spray available from I think better you. Good luck, daughter suffers with low ferritin. Tiredness and breathless
