I am getting regular iron infusions because my ferritin isn’t stable. After the iron infusions I have to inject lots of b12. This has started to giving me gout. Wondering the connection. Anyone else like this? I don’t consume the normal things that would give you gout. My ferritin gets super low then is made really high after the iron infusion. Maybe this is causing it? I have read lots on iron and b12 possibly causing gout but nothing really concrete. Let me know your thoughts and experiences.
Thank you

I don't have low iron. my b12 was 190 before injections and was basically bed ridden. I have injected daily for 2 years now. No gout. However, no one individual is built the same. Best of luck!
I am also suffering from gout in my big toe joints, knee's, and thumbs. It hurts like hell to say the least. Avoid things like tomatoes, alcohol ect that can trigger a flare up. Has your Dr tested your uric acid ? Mine was raised !
I am taking celery seed capsuls, montmorency cherry and dringing cider apple vinigar with a little ginger in warm water which seems to help.
You have my sympathy because I know how painful it is. 😩
Where is the “gout”? I was told I had it but when I saw a Rheumatologist he said it wasn’t because it was in the wrong toe joint. It was a form or arthritis that causes a sudden flare of Cristal to form. A few days of steroids and it was gone. Never come back. So be sure it is Gout!
I feel like it could be pseudo gout because I hurt all over and feel like I have the flu. Still waiting to see the doctor. Not able to get in until next week. Drinking loads of tart cherry juice. Thinking its helped a little bit
How do they test for suedo gout ? I am wondering if that is what I have due to my hypoparathyroidism I have to take calcium. I will speak to my Dr about your link.
I am sure you know but the gout flares can have a year or more in between. That unfortunately does not mean that gout is not present and wreaking havoc in between flares (pain & swelling).
That is what gout is - a little bugger that wreaks havoc and then once in a while it causes crazy pain. The pain is not the damage, it does it silently day in, day out.
Ps. I sincerely hope you were misdiagnosed, this was just a post to put out the common misconceptions for others.
I was told that with gout it forms in a specific joint in the toe but mine was in another typical for CPPD. The steroids cleared it up. The Rheumatologist was a expert so knew what he was talking about. Saved me from being put on an unnecessary drug.
