Methylcobalamin in dry form from Oxford Biosciences

After buying the above I have now received the sterile saline solution from Germany - thank you Wedgwood for your advice! I have followed the instructions from Oxford Bio but would just like to clarify a couple of points.

As I wrapped the foil around the vial the foil split so the vial was exposed to the light for a couple of seconds until I wrapped another piece around it. As you have to open the vial top to draw up the b12 in the needle/syringe thereby exposing it to the light for a few seconds as you do so, I thought my split foil might not be such an issue! but would appreciate confirmation of that.

In the instructions from Oxford Bio they say that if you are using a very sharp and very fine needle touching the glass bottom of the vial can easily dull the needle so it is best to avoid touching the needle on the glass. My question is can I stick to the method I have been using with the vials purchased from Germany to use one needle to draw up and switch to a finer one to inject?

My third question is regarding the size of the dose. Again on the Oxford Bio info sheet it states that you get 2mg of methylcobalamin for 0.5mL of solution. As I would prefer to take around I mg is it simply a case of halving the amount of solution? sounds like an obvious sort of question but I just want to make sure I am doing this right.

I’ve been using Oxford Bio for close to a year. Your calculations are correct.

As to light exposure I don’t think a few seconds or even a couple of minutes is a big deal. I’m basing this on the way I use and that the B12 has still been effective. I keep the B12 in powder form until I need a new supply. Then I store the vial wrapped in foil but when I’m prepping the injection I just unwrap. I usually prep 4 injections at once and put each in black plastic tubes I found on Amazon. Then store inside light proof zip bag. I’m fast these days when doing this so estimate exposure of vial at 2 to 3 minutes. Re wrap vial and stirs in medicine cabinet.

As to needles getting blunt from touching sides of vial this has happened. If very light touch it does not seem to affect the needle enough to make injection difficult. If I really whacked the glass I start again with a new needle. When the vial is low I start a new I e and then after a few injections from new vial I very carefully pour remaining liquid from old to new. I wipe top of both vials first with alcohol pad. Doing this means I use every drop as trying to get last bit out of a vial is hard.

I’m also buying from Oxford Bio and have been doing this process since August 2022. It’s not a problem if the vial gets exposed for a few seconds and if the foil breaks a bit. All is still good. I have occasionally touched the bottom of the vial with the needle and luckily it didn’t break so, I try to be extra careful not to do this. I use a 0.1ml of this Methylcobalamin B12. I also purchased Hydroxocobalamin from my pharmacy to use if my delivery from Oxford Bio is delayed in transit as I’m in Australia which is also satisfactory for me too.
