I recently switched to this formulation and had a couple of questions?

One is about contamination - I have seen this come up a lot but the company did not give any advice about this in the instructions. Is contamination a real risk if I am only opening the vial to draw up, using a single use needle (of course!) and closing it immediately?

Second is about light exposure degrading the potency of the solution. I saw a person on another platform say that they add the saline to the powder and draw up multiple syringes in a dark room with only a specialised red lamp as a light source! Surely that cannot be necessary??

I do keep my vial wrapped in foil as the company recommends, only exposing it to light when I have to remove the cap to draw up.

Is there anything more I need to do to ensure the safety and potency of this product?

I also have a question about dosing but will post that separately for clarity.

I have used Oxford Biosciences Methylcobalamin and I did have trepidation to mixing and using it. I go with I should not have to reconstitute my own B12, that is is wrong I should have to in order to heal to the greatest extent available to me. It is not wrong for me to heal.

I find Methylcobalamin to be more effective that other forms. I have learned it is best for me to not take advice from those with no experience and rely on what others told them is true. I did at first experience effects that some would determine were side effects and I do not as they resolved and I felt better.

My study indicates that there is no degradation of effectiveness if I cover in foil and keep in a paper bag. In the summer months I store in a refrigerator and have no issues with injecting a cold solution although some said I would.

I am in the USA and have used multi-use vials for 4 years. I did do some study of diabetics that have injected for years.

I did go back to a vial of a different form of B12 in one of my trials. It was not expired but had been used over 30 days prior. I did experience some redness and soreness which resolved. I now use the Center for Disease Control's recommendation of discarding a multi-use vial within 30 days of first use. I understand that that recommendation is for a clinical setting which is much more hazardous than my home. I do wipe down the table which I use with 91% alcohol.

Good on your for having what it takes to try and self-treat as effectively as possible. If it was easy everyone would do it. It has been well worth it to me as I feel so much better.

Thank you and I'm glad that methylcoblamin helps you too. It's very helpful to read of your experiences. The website that Wedgwood linked in their reply to me confirms what you say about storage and safety too.

I suggest that you read information to be found on a site that sells on Oxford Biosciences powdered Methylcobalamin at 3 times the price . perniciousanemia.org

Quite a bit of information on there .

When first starting my study of the 12 deficiency, I tried the protocol on the site you mentioned for 120 days and felt less worse. It was more effective than any other medically proposed protocol. The promise of improvement was not realized so I got my money back for 90 days of that trial.

Good idea to review that information! The book he published was one of the ones I read. The book like all protocols made some assumptions that I found to be unfounded. The reason I designed my own protocols is I am more successful than others. Would have been nice if someone else's protocol had been appropriate for me.

I think that in the end, we have to find our own salvation when it comes to treating Pernicious Anaemia/ B12 deficiency, since no health professionals I have come across , have sufficient interest ( need not go into the reasons that I believe result in that sad state of affairs ) And since P.A / B12 deficiency is a quite complicated condition , we have to resort to trial and error to find our way through the maze . That’s why a forum like this one is so invaluable.

I also tried the suggested protocol from that site (but I purchased the powdered Methylcobalamin direct from Oxford Biosciences ( ( much cheaper) It wasn’t for me either ( glad that you got your money back) So we plod on …………,

I now work with the concept that it is known although not accepted that B12 deficiency is not one thing. There are people whose body responds favorably to the EOD method and some that do not. Those that do not are seen and told you cannot heal. Or worse that if you wait you will get better which is false.

The EOD method is 2 grams per year.

There is a huge disconnect between how severe the symptoms are. Bed ridden means many different things to many people. It seems to me that people tend to have an emotional block and can only see their suffering as the worst it can be. Bed ridden to some means staying in bed much of the day and to others it means not being able to get to the shower after soiling themselves. Treatment is the same no matter what your level of suffering.

The forum was an important part of my learning what is thought to be true for everyone and that leads to the same treatment.

The doctors are not just horrible at treating B12 and they are not at all elite other than the power given to them and those that enable them. Doctors fail and I am not.

I no longer post my innovation as it is not healthy for me to deal with the comments of those that enable the doctors treatment while ignoring those that will suffer for the rest of their life if they believe those on the forum to be correct.

I find methylcobalamin works best for me as well although I use vials rather than powder. Best of luck and hope it works well for you.

Thank you! I did not know you could buy ampoules of methylcobalamin until recently. Glad they are working for you.

One of my first jobs was working in the Charing Cross Hospital Medical School in Fulham Road. I worked in the first British sterile ward on the first British artificial kidney. Hence I have received a lot of training on techniques needed to keep material to be injected sterile. I would never use multi use ampoules unless I had no other option. Ampoules are used because the content remains sterile for life - multi use bottles do not. Once infected by one single bacteria the bacteria multiply exponentially to become a real & avoidable risk.

I also use Oxford Bio and have done so for the past few years. I’ve had no issues with the vials and contamination. I’ve begun trialing making up all syringes with the methyl B12, placing them all in a foiled bag and into my refrigerator. Taking out one per day. Much more efficient. Only time consuming for a couple of hours with preparing vial and syringes which last approximately one month. This way any doubts about contamination are eliminated.🩷

You have no eliminated contamination at all. You have probably made the chances of getting a severe infection higher.

To date, no contamination. I do all necessary hygiene precautions. I have not made the chances of severe infection higher. I’ve trialled various methods of drawing from the vial to guarantee my safety.

You cannot guarantee your safety -the risk of contamination remains higher. Thats why one use ampoules were made in the first place & remain the safest method.

Prior to purchasing from Oxford Bio, I had searched for a long time for methylcobalamin B12 in ampoule form, I’ve only found Hydroxocobalamin B12 for which I can purchase here in my country over the counter. Methylcobalamin has been the only form of B12 that works for me. Until I can source methylcobalamin B12 in ampoule form I will continue with Oxford Bio. I am aware of the potential contamination issues that you have identified but, for now I have no other option. I will continue administering with the highest hygiene precautions. I have discussed this with my GP and he supports my methods. I’ve also made inquiries with the German pharmacies that many on this forum purchase their Hydroxocobalamin B12 from, if they have methylcobalamin B12 in ampoules and if they deliver to Australia and their reply was that they do not. So, for the time being, it’s Oxford Bio. Unless anyone knows where I may purchase methylcobalamin B12 in ampoules?? I’m also interested in purchasing adenosylcobalamin B12 in ampoules but, I’m aware that this is not as stable as the other forms but, some on this forum are currently doing this. They don’t wish to disclose from where they purchased this. I wish to heal my body further so I’m open minded for more information and more options.
