I’m getting my iron and ferritin levels checked. Does anyone know how long one should stop supplementing with iron before gettung blood drawn for these? This is in order to avoid getting incorrect results. Thank you.

I've not stopped .Never been told to.

Iron Supplement can be adjusted if needed depending on blood result .

If you're wondering how long it takes for something to get out of your system so that you can have a more accurate blood test, it takes several months. I don't know about with iron, but with B12 30 days wasn't enough, I've known people to go 6 months And even then sometimes it wasn't long enough. But I would say at least 30 days and I would go 90 days if you could. That's just my suggestion. It takes a long time for things to get out of your system. I went 20 days without B12 and my levels were still >1500. My oncologist said she knows people who go 6 months without B12 and still their levels are high. Good luck.

My doc says 24 HR for supplements generally. I don't know about iron specifically
