hi All. I have PA. I SI weekly , take iron and multivitamins which includes folate . My bloods seem ok . Yet most of the time I’m still exhausted. I miss the energy I used to have . I’m 57 and fairly active but I’m tired of feeling tired ! Even after 11 hours sleep I still feel knackered by the afternoon. Any tips ? Anything else i can take to help ? Diet is pretty good 😊

Ditto. It's a condition thats managed not cured .

Pacing .

Lower expectations.

Frustrating but the only way for me.

I'm very grateful to get this far however.

Yes same I’m probably 10 years in . But I guess I just hoped that with treatment I would return to normal . I have megaloblastic anemia so I guess that contributes

You still have megaloblastic anemia despite injecting B12 weekly? Do your blood tests show that? It would certainly account for always feeling tired if the anemia is not being corrected.

That’s a good point I’ve not had blood tested for it again since first diagnosis. I shall do so

I think you will find this podcast of two ladies interviewing Dr Klein on Iron and B12 deficiency. He is an expert on this subject.

This is really interesting. I always wondered if it was the same situation with iron and now I’m wondering if I need to take an infusion . It’s so expensive but I would pay to get some energy back !

You can contact Dr Klein through his new website. You can fill in a one minute health check and he will respond. See what you think:

If you proceed could let us know how it went. Even if you don’t, could you kindly let us know how the initial contact went. Good luck. 🙂

This is about energy at a cellular level. I heard recently, cells are either in burning mode or storage mode. Eat too much sugar and you trigger insulin and storage mode. The recommendation was to get 80% of your calories needed from fat. Also after a long bought of not doing much, your muscles will need a bit of building, I know mine do. So it's a case of making sure you get out every day and go for walk. This weather isn't helping in UK. I know I do feel better when I get out in the sun all day, so vit D levels too.

Where's the research on long-term recovery?

Try and plan to do something a bit different or go somewhere new. It helps wake the brain cells, I find.

Thanks but I’m out most days as I live in Portugal. Lots of sun 😀 I’m actually very active as I do Pilates mountain bike train etc but it’s all through a fog of being tired so I feel like I’m constantly pushing myself. Would just like to feel energised again !

I know some have it much worse than me so I am grateful

Maybe start by trying every other day injections until you feel better? If that does not work, get a check up from your doctor because it could be something else.

Thanks . I’ve done the usual checks or rather the dr has . I’m wondering if I need an iron infusion now

It's important with iron that you do not have too much. So get tested before an infusion. Did they do tests for thyroid/diabetes?

Not what you're looking for?
