Follow-up EOD injections

Hi Guys and Gals:

The response and advice to my last post, should I continue EOD B12 1ml. Was so helpful, encouraging and educational more than my GP, ever, I cannot thank you guys enough for all your help and guidance. GOD BLESS AND HEAL YOU ALL. The medical profession in this area is woefully lacking education and proper treatment.

I am self injecting SC, 1ml Methylcobalamin EOD, the numbness in my hands, muscle weakness general fatigue has not gotten worse, after 3 months it’s about the same.

My question, should I take everyday instead of EOD?

My homocysteine, folate, Vitamin D, and other tests are all within correct levels.

PA resulted from years of taking PPI’s for GERD, as prescribed by my Doctor!

Good morning,

My deficiency was is also caused by PPIs and after going out for a meal yesterday I have been up all night with gerd. Unfortunately I am still having to take PPIs due tomeds I have to take and cant seem to get to see a gastrologist to discuss,

I am having to inject daily to keep symptoms at bay and although I get the odd set back my symptoms are improving. Listen to your body and what you feel is best for you remember we are all different. It has taken over 2 yrs to feel ant real improvement but the main thing is its taking place and I can function throughout my day. This site has been a god send for me too.

God bless you too.

Thank you, Jillymo. For the GERD, I found Reflux Gourmet and Papaya enzyme both available from Amazon, completely off prescribed GERD medication.

Jillymo, if you don’t mind how much B12 do you inject daily, I am self-injecting 1ml Methylcobalamin EOD

Have you tried to inject hydroxocobalamin? It will convert into the correct forms once injected. But Methylcobalamin may not be enough for complete healing - you may need Adenosylcobalamin aswell to see real effects.

Thank You Pickle500 for this advice.

I saw previously you were alternating cyano and methyl injections. It may be wise to go back to that. As Pickle says, methyl doesn't convert to the adeno, so you would need to take a tablet of adeno or hydroxo (which may not absorb properly), or add in cyano/hydroxo injections.

If it were me I would add in cyano or hydroxo injections on the alternate days. Can you get them where you are?

B12 is nontoxic so you can increase to daily without problems. I inject hydroxo 2x per day.

I can get Cyano, from my GP and Methylcobalmin from supplier.

Then I would probably add the cyano back in. Was there a particular reason you stopped it?

Not really, actually I felt no major difference between the two, but will go back to alternating between the two. Again, Jade_s, I appreciate all your help an guidance.👏👍👏👏

Sometimes it can take a while to see improvement. You might consider adding in some folic acid, which helps B12 do its job. Best wishes 🙏

i didn't know that about methyl to take adeno. It's too bad it's not tolerable for everybody because I really saw change when I used the methyl. My feet are starting to tingle and hurt again after my methyl mega dose wore off. It really made me turn a corner, but now that I'm not using it again I can feel some things returning. It's a shame it's so hard on us to take because it does work. It made me not feel well though.

If you take methyl in combo with another form, you won't have to worry about conversion. I posted more below just a second ago :) Maybe start a new post, as it's interesting the methyl was so helpful. Maybe a smaller dose would be ok ;)

thanks Jade. I'm really confused about the methyl. Because it really did help me. But also I took too much so I didn't feel well at first major Insomnia . But when it started to wear off I did notice a positive change in my symptoms. I guess I could start another Thread about it but it was kind of a fluky situation where I accidentally injected 27 days worth of methyl in 5 days. So I had quite a boost. And I felt pretty bad for a week and a half. But once it wore off a bit, I did feel better. So I'm not real clear.

Yes confusing isn't it! It could have also been a dose thing. You could try increasing cyano first. Some of us including me do 2x day , some go up to 3mg or more hydroxy per day. You might just experiment & keep a log. :)

thanks i might just do that.

That is such good news RisingOne. 3 months isn't long. That was when I started seeing change. It's been 5 months now and I just turned a corner. The methyl is really good if one can tolerate it. I noticed the most improvement when I used it. You can increase to ED if you think you need to, or you could give it a few more months and see.

I'm sorry doctors gave you PA.

A doctor told me to use Pepcid AC or famotidine rather than a PPI. That's been helpful. I made the mistake of having a cup of coffee the other morning it burned my stomach so bad. I did take famotidine and I chewed a couple of tums and that helped a lot.

I'm so glad you started SI'ing to help yourself. You can increase your injections or you can give it a bit more time. I think you're on the right track either way. Good luck.

You can't hurt yourself if you give yourself more B12. It's safe so whichever way you go you'll be okay.

I wish I could get single use methyl here in the US. I saw the most change when I used that. But it was multi-use vile and I was worried about germs. In fact I can feel some symptoms returning since I don't use it.

You're on cyano, right? Have you ever tried the hydroxy form? Some people do better on hydroxy, perhaps because of issues converting the cyano form, similar to some of the genetic cobalamin diseases. Anyway it might be worth trying just to see if the problem is cyano or you really need methyl. You can get 30mg/30mL vials of Actavis hydroxob12 on prescription, or order from germany. Just a thought :)

sorry for hijacking, RisingOne
