Started my EOD journey 10 months ago. Recently titrated to twice a week but last few days have noticed pins and needles returning (on day of injection and day after)

Do I stick with twice a week as could be reversing out or should I increase back to EOD?

Thank you kind people x

We are all guessing when we try to treat ourselves for this insidious condition of P.A. / B12 deficiency . We have to guess because the medical profession seems to know less than we do , and we know that research on the subject is lacking . The only good thing that we can take comfort in, is the fact that we cannot overdose on vitamin B12 . ( my GP told me that too much B12 was toxic , and that after loading doses I would have huge reserves of B12 to use that should last for years ! Think on those two shocking errors , when I had been diagnosed with P.A. with a very positive Intrinsic Factor Antibody test ) I found that my B12 blood serum level had been ignored completely, when it was well below range . So I struggled for a long time . Had to pay privately to get tested .

Given these facts , I believe that you should return to EOD . You have nothing to lose ( except the cost of 3 extra injections per week ) You know that EOD works well for you , and keeps you symptom-free . Some patients report that they have had to inject EOD for a few years before they could inject less . Look , it’s hard to advise anyone in this situation . But you cannot do yourself any harm . It’s so important to keep those symptoms at bay .

I was totally ignorant about PA , and did not inject often enough at the start of self-injecting . I discovered PAS and this forum too late . I regret that now , because I’m left with an irreversible symptom after 10 years . But I am for ever thankful that I found this forum .

Very best wishes .

I agree with wedgewood- it sounds like you have decreased your injections too much , too soon. The advantage to taking our treatment into our own hands is that we can fine tune it, and dose ourselves pre-emptively and responsively ; upcoming busyness will require a boost in advance, and an unexpected stress ( physical mental or emotional) will require a bit of extra help to recover from. If your body is already struggling, then these things will knock you even more, so best to keep them at bay. Keeping a symptoms diary helps to stay tuned into how your body is going.

In my case I have been injecting every day for 8 months, EOD for 3 months prior to that, and I am still using all that is available each day! I know because I have tried a few times to space it out more, but symptoms have returned each time.I won't be reducing before the busyness of the holidays has eased as I don't want to risk falling in a heap in the middle of the celebrations! A few extra jabs is worth it .

All the best!

We are all different but it took me a little over two years of EOD before I was able to reduce to about twice a week. Sometimes, such as when ill or need to be able to do more (two days in a row busy!), I increase frequency. After I had Covid, for example, I went back to EOD for a couple of weeks.

The most you can do is notice (before loved ones do !) - and adjust without feeling like you have failed an exam. Don't be disheartened. We are not all the same and we do not remain the same every day as individuals. Christmas can be hard work -why make it harder ?

Keep going and keep trying for optimum control of your symptoms. I think improvements are possible long after expected.

I just experienced the same. I was SI every 3-4 days and dropped it down to weekly. All the tingling in my legs and arms came back with a vengeance so gone back to more regular again. It seems to have set me back a bit as I did an injection on Monday and I’m tingling again already, where as before I changed it to weekly I would have been fine.
