Vitamin B12 and calcium deposits

Hi just need a question answered by you clever people.I have a painful knee and my GP sent me for an X-ray.It showed up deposits of calcium so am having some blood tests.

I have B12 at the doctors 3 months but also inject myself every 3 weeks.Could B12 cause high levels of iron to cause this calcium.

I hope not because I need the B12.

I am not aware of b12 affecting calcium (nor iron, directly).

Have you had a serum calcium tested? Hopefully they will test it now.

How are your vit D levels? Low levels could also contribute. If you're supplementing, people now recommend to take K2 with D to help calcium get into the bones & not build up in the body.

Parathyroid hormone is potentially another thing to investigate, though rare. It control levels of Vit D & calcium.

uncertain whether parathyroid hormone actually *controls*, vit D levels?

Sort of... the body can suppress Vit D in hyperparathyroidism, to prevent calcium absorption from the diet. parathyroid.com/low-vitamin...

Good morning, I have calcific tendonitis in my upper arm which was diagnosed by x-ray. Blood tests, including parathyroid were all fine. I was told it can just happen but it started after the nurse rushed my b12 injection and injected into my shoulder bursa instead of the muscle causing long term pain and damage.

I also suffered same thing (like frozen shoulder), after 16 months thankfully back to normal. The one thing I made sure that I didnt have injections in that arm, and told nurses to inject lower.

Yes always lower; I make sure they slow down and concentrate.

I had this, white spot deposits around my mouth, my calcium levels in my blood were up and I had a large hyperparathyroid tumour (took about 18 months to diagnose and have operation). They removed one of the glands that are behind your thyroid and about the same size as a grain of rice. I don't know if it's caused by PA, but I also suffer from bone spurs, one on my foot (had one removed) and on both knees, kneeling is painful.
