I was originally self-injecting with B12 from my UK GP who provided a yellow sharps box and they arranged for a regular home collection with a disposal company.
However, this was discontinued when they determined I was over medicating by a new practice manager . Since then I've been self -injecting with supplies I've been getting from Germany and putting the used sharps in the yellow box I had been previously given.
The box is just about full so need to dispose of it in a safe manner and wondered what others are doing in this scenerio for disposal?
Thanks in advance.....

Yes thank you pitney - I'm grateful that my GP "allowed" my wife Gill to give me my B12 injections at the very start of the pandemic even to giving us four sets of syringes and a sharps box thinking that it would all be over quickly. Fortunately I had the foresight to obtain a hundred sets straight away and at even at the usage of one set every three weeks they should see me through to the end of covid - or that of my own
I buy a sharps box from Morrisons pharmacy . They put a tel . No on for a Free collection. So when you buy a new one from x chemist they should do this.
I order mine from medisave when i order my needles. Our council has a bin outside in the carpark for drop offs of sealed sharps boxes, so I tend to drop mine in there when I get a chance, but it is only accessible during the office hours.
Its worth just checking what services your local council offer, and then trying pharmacies if not.
I took over a yellow box that my husband had from when the district nurse called. My local pharmacy take it in and give me a replacement. Maybe I’m lucky. I haven’t said why I need it.
