just taken my 15 yo daughter to doct as has history of low b12 and iron, her injections were stopped last year on a paediatrician advice and to monitor every 3 months which we have been doing and have stayed pretty stable even though she tested positive to parietal cell antibody, shes been complaining of late of headaches poor concentration, joint pain and her hands and feet are always freezing, couldn't get in with usual doct but she was due for retest, already had form for b12, folate and iron but wanted to add thyroid test, pretty much had to twist his arm to do so, said there was only need to test tsh if anything and that test was unnecessary , omg did he not look at her history and the fact i have hashimotis , he told her to eat more red meat and reluctantly gave me form, so not happy right now, my daughter actually asked me to make her an appointment , his attitude was why start looking for stuff that might not be there, im pretty certain that her symptoms are due to her iron or b12 as 2 months back ferreton had dropped to 36 range 30 - 200, i just want piece of mind its not thyroid, cant believe how blazay he was, never be going back to him, rant over

Hi there. Your daughters health is mirroring my 21 year olds health. Getting nowhere with her GP we went to Medichecks for a full private thyroid blood test. The online Dr report said that it is extremely likely my daughter had hashis (my mum had it) & to go to GP for treatment. We took her blood test report to the GP who said she would refer her to an endocrinologist. Fine - but the waiting list is nearly a year so I am forking out to see one privately taken from a list provided by the wonderful Thyroid UK.
If you are able to I would have your daughter do a full thyroid panel through Medicheck (it is expensive but if you go on Thyroid UK website you can get a discount- usually on a thursday I think). Then I would post her results on Health Unlocked on the thyroid forum & you get the best advice from the knowledgeable fantastic folk on there.
My daughters GP basically said the same as your daughters GP & told her to eat more dried apricots for her below range ferritin! If you have Hashimotos then it is quite likely your daughter has inherited it too.
Good luck & I hope your daughter gets the help she needs.
How infuriating for you. Sadly so many clinicians are deficient in B12 training.
Whatever which block wall you come up across this group and other groups (also great) will support you. Just dont give up. Always consider SI as yougave nothing to lose ( completely safe) and everything to gain ( in control of your own health)..
