Pernicious anaemia is an auto-immune gastritis. The body attacks the mechanism that allows most B12 to be absorbed in the ileum - with B12 that basically means no absorption from food at all. The condition can also affect the absorption of other vitamins and minerals - most notably folate (B9) and iron.
It isn't a condition that can be reversed so treatment will be for life
Yes ok but they say my iron is good and the doctor was like do anyone in your family have stomach cancer why she said that I don't claim that in the name of jesus christ
PA is associated with a slightly higher rates of some stomach cancers due to the effect of high gastrin levels associated - and slightly is slightly higher - and a long way from a certainty of getting cancer. PA also tends to run in families - so your GP was probably just trying to get a full family history. If you are concerned about the remark then you should follow up with them so they can clarify. You will also need to speak to your GP to clarify why they have prescribed iron.
