B12, Vitamin D, gut bacteria and sleep

Having found sleep disturbance a major symptom of B12 deficiency particularly when my injection was due, and having Vit D deficiency too I googled this and came across a really interesting article.

Although B12 is not in the title, it is discussed as part of a group of deficiencies that can affect our cognitive function, frequency of headaches , sleep and general health. Getting a balance that works for you and gut health is critical.

The presenter talks really fast so I’ve watched it twice but was so impressed I’ve started taking B100 complex and magnesium to see if it helps me. I’m already taking Vit D and B12 injections every 4 weekly as well as iron. Too early to tell if it’s working yet.

I've found that getting my vitamin d level uo a has really helped with my headaches. Did this off my own back as go saud my level was okay. 52. Had been 21 last year and took a loading dise prescribed thrm (different doctor) had some left. Level now 73.

Again Gp initially nor interested as ferritin level went from 61 to 29. (Still withing normak lomits) not find me though. Now have upped iron supplements too. Presently robed 320 ferrous fumarate with fPlockton acid. At present tolerating 210mg. After 19 days feeling less weak. I took magnesium in a multi vit. That on bloods fine as is folate. Do I totally agree . As it's starting to work for me. I knew for me ferritin too low. I aim to keep it when I get there between 60-80ng/l I will try and watch the video . Thank you.

Hi Nackaspan, I’m glad you’re getting a better balance too. Just to clarify: I don’t have Vit D injections but use a mouth spray from October to May because in the northern hemisphere we don’t get enough sunlight to make it. In the summer months I aim to get 20 mins of ‘unprotected’ sunshine every day. It’s actually a hormone not a vitamin and so is very hard to get from our diets even if we had good gut absorption.

Enjoy the film.
