You are probably better with a broad spectrum multivitamin and mineral supplement plus extra folate, potassium, magnesium and iron, maybe vitamin D, ideally from your diet.

The processes of cell replication, nerve function and energy release that use B12 need lots of other things to work properly and anything that is missing limits how well the extra B12 can work.

The broad spectrum multivitamin and mineral supplement has all the B-complex plus many other things that are required just as much.

Basic supermarket A-Z Multivitamins and Minerals and simple Folic Acid tablets are as good as, if not better than, the branded ones and are not expensive.

As you can have too much of some of the B vitamins it is important that you don't take both.

I think you should also get your iron levels checked as low iron can cause your hair to fall out and (because they are also made of keratin) disrupt nail production. It will also make you feel very tired.

I hope you find a solution and feel better soon.

I’d get all your blood levels checked with someone (naturopath or a GP who knows vitamins) who knows how to implement a supplement regimen. Eg. zinc deficiency can cause hair loss and nail issues but you shouldn’t just start taking zinc without knowing your levels and understanding how they work in with other supplements.

I'm no expert but have you had your thyroid levels tested? There is a big difference between "normal" and "optimal". There is a good forum on HealthUnlocked: Thyroid UK. A lot of helpful and informative people over there that may be able to give you some better insight into potential thyroid issues. Oftentimes, thyroid issues go hand in hand with B12d issues.
