I’ve been SI B12 for a year now since the NHS injections aren’t sufficient these past few years and I crashed terribly after major surgery. I’m significantly better in terms of the neuro symptoms (balance / leg weakness) but the fatigue only got worse and I felt I was going a little backwards with my legs recently. I’ve started taking a bcomplex and it lifts the fatigue and has restarted the healing pains in my legs i had last year. So i guess I needed it? Can anyone relate? Or maybe it just takes ages for fatigue to lift??
(Previously I’d been doing high folate as suggested by another b12 group but this made me poorly. The bcomplex is without b6 as mine is very high from a wholefood diet at a last blood test and I believe that gives me numbness but I noticed that my folate had dropped and my other bvits are low/mid normal range).

my understanding is that cyano and hydroxo can covert to methyl and andeno objet methyl alone cannot so I’m not sure about that., however I have read that methyl can help particularly with energy so might be worth a go! I monitor my nutrient levels with blood testing so I know the rest are okay. I’m coeliac and prone to malabsorption.
I used to take high folate and was prescribed 5mg but definately don’t now, and never will again. It was appropriate initially but quite detrimental laterally but I didn’t know , it was only that I got a new GP who explained everything, which matched many of the posts on this group. Its Well worth reading posts on here in relation to folic acid, a valuable resource. Wishing you well Mrs Tuft x
Yes I’ve read them. It did me no good either but then I wonder if I’ve give too far the other way not even taking a bcomplex hence why I’ve restarted one…
The very high folate suggested is, I believe, a mistake. High folate, unlike B12, can have adverse symptoms.
I would not take high-dose folate unless prescribed short-term by GP and monitored. I had 3 months' worth of folate and ferritin, after b12 injections started for B12 deficiency. Then both folate and ferritin retested - later had to start supplements myself to get back to effective levels as not stabilised. It took about 2 years to get it to stay at useful levels, with the help of GP's advice.
The folate and ferritin were tested initially because, after B12 injections started, I still had hair loss and bleeding gums. Both were found to be low within range.
Like Nackapan , I have struggled to work out what I need and when for myself. Difficult to get GPs to be interested - my usual GP and two of her colleagues have now left the practice.
Tried magnesium salts in bath for lower leg pain but not sure if it really works or not. Lately I have been trying co-enzyme Q10 - as once advised by neurologist - but not sure this is doing much for me either. Can't even really recall what it was supposed to do for me now !
The B12 injections, the vitamin D and Raloxifene on prescription, and K2 - these are the ones that seem absolutely necessary for me. I was found to have osteoprosis of the spine.
