Where can I buy safe Methyl B12 for UK use?

Hi,

Myself & daughter both diagnosed with B12 deficiency. She’s on monthly injections, I’m on 3 monthly, but we SI with hydro B12 in between.

DNA testing did show up genetic mutations linked to difficulty processing B12, but not the dreaded MTHFR, but we need folate over folic acid etc & I wonder if methyl B12 might suit us better. I’m still showing deficiency signs in finger nails etc which have gone backwards since starting treatment. Im on all good cofactors etc, so feel my weekly injections should do more. Similar with my daughter.

I have found a local clinic that sells injectable Methyl B12 kits, but the price is extortionate at £400 for a SI loading dose. I knew methyl to be more expensive, but surely not this much😧

Are there any more sensibly priced online suppliers please?

Thank you

There are no mutations that will affect the 'processing' of B12 that you can get commercially.

There is no known reason why methylcobalamin should be any better than hydroxocobalamin. ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articl...

Thank you for taking the time to reply, but that wasn’t my question.

No offence intended Fbirder, but I’m looking to buy Methyl to try, which was my question that I need an answer to. I’ve already done my research & I know there’s controversy. Plus I know we fair FAR better on folate over folic acid & my Australian cousin, with the same mutations & who gets Methyl prescribed finds it way better than the hydro she was given here. I couldn’t believe the difference in her when she visited. She’s like a new woman. So controversy, I want to give it a go. 🤷‍♀️

I can fully understand you wanting to try Methylcobalamin , even if it’s only for elimination purposes . I did try it myself , and found it no better than Hydroxocobalamin . But yes, you should try it ! I don’t recommend buying powdered Methylcobalamin from Oxford Biosciences which is the only source of Methylcobalamin obtainable in U.K that I know of . It has to be rehydrated with saline ,which in the U.K. is only obtainable with prescription , or from some online German pharmacies . This means you have a large amount of Methylcobalamin for several injections . Always a danger of contamination with this. Best to obtain single use ampoules from Arnika Pharmacy in Munich . I used to live there, and I know them as a good reliable Pharmacy that specialises in homeopathic treatment .They don’t have an ordering site , but you need to get in touch by email ......

manufaktur@arnika-apo.de.

Telephone .... 0049 89 452 468 468

They speak and understand English . You need to pay in advance by PayPal ( that’s what I had to do 3 years ago — it might have changed now . )

Methylcobalamin is much more expensive than Hydroxocobalamin, and must be kept in the fridge. Hope this helps . Best wishes .

That’s fantastic Wedgewood. Thank you!

& yes, it was the thought of mixing up powders etc tat put me off trying Methyl last time round, so the ampules are perfect. I expect more expensive, but hopefully nothing like the £80 for a single SI kit this local clinic wants to charge 😐

Do your cofactors include B2? FMN is the converted version and its not hard to get. I'm assuming you already take P5P. chrismasterjohnphd.com/blog...

Thank you noszbe. we do take B2, but that’s a very interesting article. I have a friend who has that gene mutation & I don’t think she knows about this MTHFR & B2 connection, so will pass this on to her. She’s struggling,so 🤞🏻
