So much for all your help with medichecks advice... I had the tests done and some unusual things flagged up. My B12 was 155 when the docs advised me to start injections, now it is still only 177 6 months down the line.

CRP inflammation 0-5 range ... i am showing over 8

uric acid 140-360 range ... I am showing 388

Transferrin saturation 20-50 range... I am showing 15

and my ferritin is on the low side 25

TIBC 28-72 ... i am showing 74

Globulin 19-35 ... I am showing just over

Gamma GT 6-42 range... I am showing 83

Top end UIBC

My kidneys are a little out too..

I know this is a lot and not all relevant to this forum but just wondering if anyone can identify with any of these results... My latest thing that has happened is swollen feet and ankles... Resembling pigs trotters! My feet are already painful.... and the swelling is now hindering my exercise!

Thanks in advance for any help xxx

suggest that you go and see your doctor/GP - swelling is also a symptom of kidney issues.

If you only had injections 6 months ago and none since then you need to get another B12 injection - the falling levels mean that you have an absorption problem. They will have been off the scale after your injections but then fall over time unless you have top ups.

Thank you Gambit for your reply. I had my loading doses and been having top ups every 3 months. I had had an injection about 3 weeks before my blood test.. That was why i was a little concerned that they wernt higher... i am looking into SI, but with all my other problems am wondering if is ok to do that. My docs will just tell me to carry on with the 3 months but i know that is not enough for me. I am feeling cold quite often too and that is unheard of for me as i am a hot person. Is iron liquid any better than tablets do you know?

Thanks xx

I think your ferritin is probably just in range, assuming that you are pre-menopause. Did you have a full iron panel - ferritin is a good measure of iron deficiency but it doesn't tell the whole story. Would also suggest you talk to a pharmacist about supplementation.

Sorry that the GP is so stupid about the 3 monthly - you could suggest they look at the BNF which recently changed to say 2-3 months if there are no neurological problems

Hi 49goingon99

Cold is symptom that is also bothering me. I wonder if you have taken your temperature to see what it is actually doing? For me it often happens after bigger meals, my temperature just seems to fall, but also if I have been outside too long, then often the only thing I can do is take a bath to warm up. But also, I can be hot or cold when feeling the opposite!

Trouble with this symptom is that it does not really seem to fit just B12d, doctors just look at me and shrug!

I havnt raised it with my docs yet.. I am usually compaining all the time how hot it is... and break out into a sweat very easily! not atm though... I will see what they say..

Regarding your B12 tests what measurement were these in pmol/l or ng/l and what were the ranges quoted? If they are different then you could be worrying unnecessarily.

pmol/L range 38-188 i am 177 ... It is in range but would have expected it to be higher with injections

I presume this is active B12 as it is high in the range now, I think maybe your first test was serum B12.

That's a good question.. I just assumed they were the same test.. I will check.

Thanks
