B12 & Occipital neuralgia

Hi everyone... trying to get to the root cause of my headache and praying it’s not a tumor. Has anyone experienced an impact on this nerve that may be from b 12 deficiency?

Are you on cyano injections?

Have you tried a cold compress across the back of the neck and shoulders? An ice pack wrapped in the dish towel worked wonders for my wife after her surgery back in December. Pain killers didn’t do anything for it. As I understand it, it was from overactive blood vessels. The ice helped constrict the vessels and reduce the pressure on the head and brain.

Hi, thanks. Yes, I just had my second injection. I will try some ice. My mental well being is not great with all this... I have an mri scheduled for Friday.

Mental state especially anxiety and depression are also psychological symptoms that can arise from the B12 deficiency.

Hope the MRI shows everything is okay inside.

I suspect this for myself, but can't prove it.

How is your head pressure now?

Not much pressure now, still get migraine starting up 3-4 times per week, and still pain starting in the neck/occiput but not as bad as it was before B12 injections/a herbal medicine/a low side effect triptan.

I do still use ice packs for the worst ones, assuming I'm at home, lying down with the ice pack at the base of the skull/neck and sometimes have to move it around as the pain seems to move around the neck and head.

I have had this pressure for 33 days constant now thus redoing my loading injections. How long before your injections helped do you think

They helped immediately but the effect wore off after a few days each time. Gradual over all improvement has taken over 2 years.

If your MRI is ok you can look at other supplements, your diet, try massage, is your bed/pillows supportive in the right way, is your occupation affecting your neck and so on. Also perhaps get another medical opinion.

The Cephaly device I think can help with occipital nerve pain, it's quite expensive but have a look into it.

I was just diagnosed with occipital neuralgia. The back of my neck is so swollen and when I press on it up near my scalp it makes my right side go weak and my optic nerve bulge and it makes me feel Panic immediately. It feels like I've been hit in the head with a cattle prod. Does this happen to you? This came on at the same time as all my other B12 symptoms so I really suspect it's related but the doctors say it's not.
