could it be b12 deficiency and blood test results

I'm new here, sorry if I do anything wrong!

My symptoms started with numbness/tingling/crawling sensation, which developed to breathlessness, heart palpitations, slight fatigue, ringing in ears when lying down, headaches (mostly in temples but also other parts, head also feels heavy and pressure sensation in ears), jaw ache, burning sensation in hands, legs and head, loss of appetite, vision problems. One doctor prescribed me 500 mcg mecobalamin twice daily for 10 days to heal any neuropathy which almost stopped my tingling/crawling sensation. However other symptoms still there. This started almost 4-5 months ago.

I recently did a blood test and here are my results.

Calcium (Ca) - Total 9.6 mg/dL Range- 8.4-10.2

Iron 123 ug/dL Range- 33-102

Folic acid (Folate) 10.8 ng/mL Range- 1.2-7.1

Vitamin B12 (Serum) 476 pg/mL Range - 182-820

Vitamin D Total (D2+D3) 21 nmol/L Range- 50-149 NORMAL

31-49 INSUFFICIENT

<30 DEFICIENT

>150 TOXIC

b12 looks normal but keep in mind this is after supplementing, however it has been a couple of months does it still have any effect? Any idea why folate and iron are high? It's making me quite worried. I am going to see my doctor today, just wanted a second opinion.

if you aren't supplementing folate and iron I have no idea why those would be high - and suggest you speak to your GP

Your vitamin D is very low and needs to be treated - looks more likely (given overlap in symptoms) that this is actually the cause of your symptoms. Would suggest resolving that and then come back to B12 if things haven't changed.

I just came back and she told me that iron and folate are "normal" so I'm not sure. She prescribed me vitamin D and calcium and I'll see what happens. Thank you for your reply!

Did the vitamin D help you? I’m having similar symptoms and just had blood drawn to check my vitamin D... I’m eager to see what it says!
