I had my coccyx removed in march 2012 after a fall onto my bottom in 2009.
I think it would be good to ask your GP to refer you to a pain consultant. Rgay have much more knowledge of all the options.
Good luck
Ann
thank you ann , i went to my gp fri and have been referred back to the pain clinic. i went there before op to have injections. but when i left there to have op the consultant even said ill keep you on the books as you will be back most people that have your operation end up seeing me .Nice hey...Just so fustrating when the consultants say i should be okay by now and im clearly not.
Hi nikki,
I have a lot of pelvic and coccyx pain. I use a coccyx cushion, and although yours is gone, it may just give the nerve some relief. I use memory foam insoles too.
If your coccyx was pressing on the nerve before removal, then it may be dammaged and is still sending pain messages even though theres nothing pressing on it.
Stretching exercises like pilates may help.
hi there ,
yes i use a cushion especially wen in the car.I am my own worse enemy when it comes to exercises. As i am back at work par-time i am bending and lifting all day so in my mind ive exercised enough and when im not at work i find myself having to relax and lay down the majority of the time but i spoke to a physio guy and he said you will be surprised how many people use that excuse but with just moving im not concentrating on the key area which is my buttocks.I do try but the pain afterwards is what puts me off .
the after pain is normal. its your body reacting to the exercises. Once you get used to it, its not too bad. and the more exercise you do the less it happens.
its crazy and illogical but you do have to get worse before you get better.
I have trigger points in my buttocks that need releasing from time to time. they cause pain in my hips. have you been checked by the physio for trigger points?
you can do stretching exercises when lying down and resting - just stretch each limb out slowly from the body one at a time. Then draw them into the body one at a time, repeat the set 2 or 3 times. Another good one is to bring your knees onto your chest and stretch the lower back. hold for a couple of minutes and release. also roll from side to side with knees in chest. If your back can cope with it, raise and lower each leg, one at a time, then both together. for sets of 10, as many as you can manage. These should not cause pain, but should make you feel stretched out.
May be easier to start with something that doesn't cause pain.
